Hello! Well, Santa gave me my Christmas and birthday presents early this year, so I've got to set up a better workspace in our shed. I had my trim saw on a plastic fold out table, which was great because I didn't have to be concerned about ruining the surface. But the rest of the tables in our shed are wood, and I was trying to figure out the best way to protect them from the mess of a 10" slab saw and a flat lap. I did find a rubber kennel crate tray worked great under the little slab saw because it is rubber and has a ledge. Here are some plastic ones: smile.amazon.com/dp/B09B96QDKX/?coliid=I25VR3OJKFWUMS&colid=1BHJLXOXLSZFB&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1What do you have your messy equipment on?

Couple of vinyl desk pads on the wife’s old bureau/cabbing bench. Easy to wipe clean, and also a slight help with noise and vibration.

Show us what santa brought you, and I'll tell you my recommendation for a table protector.

We put a rubber mat down on the floor Like a wrestling mat? What happens in the work shop, stays in the workshop

On a serious note. We have a trim saw as well and put a plastic "sheild" on the front of it. I also find if you put some plastic sheet or a drop cloth on the walls around it, it helps keep the mess from spraying all around. I also usually wear a plastic apron or a raincoat

I use old picnic and wooden work benches. My issue isn't the splash, but how a previously uncluttered flat surface attracts rocks and other stuff.

forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/93484/show-off-work-shop-workspaceThe pictures were posted on the link above. The setup has been changed so that the non-operating Covington has been rotated 90 degrees and moved to the back of the bench and my high park is parallel to it on the front of the bench. Floor is dirt and gets muddy when I use the Genie trim saw attachment. The advantage of working on dirt is dropped cabs won't break and the disadvantage is mud. There is a roof over the work area but only two walls.

I have my cabbing machine on top of a metal garage shelf with a towel under it to cut down noise/vibration/movement. I would prefer it to be on vinyl like a table cloth. Hope that helpsm

A piece of vinyl flooring laid or glued on the workbench would keep the wood from getting soaked

I set my shop up years ago. I built a frame I could lay 3/4" plywood on and for each grinder I bolted to the plywood (exterior grade). Laid the plywood/grinder on the frame and proceeded down the shop wall with either a grinder or where I needed more space between, a board. The trim saw is just setting on a piece of plywood nailed to the frame. Oil will soak into the wood and it does not matter. And Yess!!! what greig said. Flat spots collect stray rocks. Not sure how that happens.

Wherever I have drips or anticipate them I place a cake pan, tin foil tray, or what have you with a slight bit of "oildri" (clay like absorbent). This is especially important under capped clean outs, bearings of saws, and other openings of the slab saws. A bit of oil on a wood work bench surface is not a problem and easily wiped up. For my specific work station, I use a plastic art cutout board (easy to wipe off when need arises, grid lines for planning, stainproof, replaceable, and no cracks for little findings etc to hide in. Early on I prowled the aisles of Habitat for Humanity recycling store for used faux marble, bath surround sheeting. Its great for cleanability, but tends to be breakable if abused with blunt force. Its Corian on the cheap for my shop! Its somewhat pleasing to wipe the oil film off the top of my plexiglass saw cover, or the tumbler grit/film off of the plastic or "corian"=like surfaces and restore them to a clean state.

When you say "unstoppable"...are you referring to what you're going to be able to accomplish...or are you referring to equipment purchases? LOL From my own experience...it means a little of both! LOL Congrats by the way!
