Wow, wish I had not missed that outing for that Brenda agate. What blows my mind is that last pic shows how cruddy the outside of these rocks are and how one would never know what's inside at all. I'm never really hiked around with a rock pick, partially so as not to draw attention to myself. I can only hope to be there next year and partake. Thanks for sharing those pics. It's like a cruddy brown ordinary rock with bright red blood inside of it.

Just stuff that caught my eye! That one in upper left looks a little bit like Mary Ellen jasper. it wasn’t labeled when I bought it. Your guess is as good as mine lol.

Nice purchases Tommy! And your Brenda stuff is killer! We struck out at Pebble Terrace on the way home; there was a really sandy section of road that was about a football field long with a little uphill grade. We didn’t want to risk getting stuck in the Pathfinder. It was too far to hike in, about 4 miles or so.

I'll probably window ten junk rocks for every keeper found. It's amazing how many times rocks were probably walked over by a rockhound before someone picked it up and cracked it open.

I actually got stuck in one of the dozens of washes we traveled thru and had to put my Tacoma in 4wd-low and thankfully it crawled out of it. It's a nervous feeling when that happens and you know you'd have to walk about 10 miles for help.

Tommy that was Matt from Colorado in the Wyoming hoodie. For the life of me I can’t remember his user name. We talked quite a bit. He has drop saws for cutting thunder eggs and geodes. I thought that was pretty awesome! We really do have a great group of folks here and I look forwards to repeating this next year God willing lol and hopefully get to meet a lot more members!

Great pictures Tommy. Glad you guys got some rockhounding in too. It was great seeing everyone, sorry I didn't stay longer but we were so tired. Thanks for the hugs, they were just what the doctor ordered and definitely appreciated.

Hi everyone, I'm that mystery guy in the Wyoming sweatshirt, been a lurker for over 5 years. My name is Matt and I currently live in Southwest Colorado. I grew up in Wyoming and spent many summers with my Dad rockhouding all over the state and surrounding states. I've been fascinated with geodes since I was a kid. I currently have two Lortone drop saws, a Lortone Lux6x-130(bought new by my Dad 30+ years ago), DP Genie (got a killer deal on it but haven't began to use it), two Thumler's Tumblers, a double barrel lortone one, along with other misc equipment. It was great meeting and chatting with a few faces of this wonderful group Tommy , Rockoonz , quartzilla , drocknut , christopherl1234 , nowyo , and hope that I can start contributing instead of just lurking. I ended up buying a few Cayon Rim Thunder Eggs, a few Lucky Strike eggs, a Richardson High Speed Sander, and a beautiful hummingbird sun catcher made by Russ nowyo . Thanks again Tony catmandewe for the BBQ.

It was nice to meet you Audibong Matt and once again sorry for forgetting your name. The funny (sad?) part is I even asked you specifically for it before the night was over so I wouldn't forget For whatever reason names go in one ear and out the other with me. All, it was great getting back to QZ after a few years off including the whole covid thing. I'm hoping that this sparks others to commit to making QZ in '23 a reality and lets get a regular RTH shindig going on at Tony's again.

I ended up buying ... a Richardson High Speed Sander Did you pick up the one Tony was selling? I meant to buy that but the day/weekend slipped away and I never got it done.

I'm just as bad about names even if I asked a hundred times still forget..

I use a harbor freight buffer and than have it on a reostat as well Definitely might have to give this a try, thanks for the suggestion. I'm still getting the hang of the sander but seems to work well. I got quite a few tips from a guy at the Tyson Wells show that really helped.
