Awesome work on those new shapes, they look great! I think you need to start splitting these picture threads up a bit. Maybe different threads or maybe feed us the different cabs at different time of the day. It's almost too much to take in and process at one time... maybe I've got the ADD or something. I agree with knave, I think 13 is my favorite, so dramatic! That material is like a better version of what I want Montana agates to be when I open them. I won't mention all the bad stuff I said about 21...

As much as I hate to admit, despite the beautiful workmanship, I will find my self either blowing thru all the pictures or not scrolling thru everything at once and then going back thru a second time. You do you, jasoninsd , don't have to appease mine or others short attention span lol. Maybe stacked side by side. I know there is no perfect solution. I've learned in a janky way to do it, but maybe there is a much easier way putting them in an array?

#3 is a sweet shape and you nailed the points at the top. I like that shape and cab a lot. Should be a good shape to wrap as well.
#1 / #2 looks off balance as a stand alone cab, but that should actually give your additional options when wrapping since you can "balance" it. I think asymmetrical "off balance" cabs look better with a more ornate wrap, as opposed to symmetrical cabs, which look better with a more simple wrap.
That piranha agate is really something.
You have inspired me to cab some of my GPP slabs. They never look 100% solid, but based on your many fine examples, I can see that the soft plumes dont undercut in a noticeable way.
Have you cabbed any stinking water plume from Oregon? It's just clear agate with white plumes, but the plumes can be quite dramatic and pretty.
Finally, I've got to ask, again. How is that cerium polishing pad holding up?

I forgot to mention, those Fairburns are bold and beautiful. They look like display pieces, despite being formed as cabs. Are those hard and slow to work like prairie agates? I've never seen a Fairburn in person, much less canned one.

It would be awesome if you could post a big collage at the beginning, and then the individual photos. I'm not trying to create more work for you, but I agree that it is overwhelming (in the best possible way) to try to really appreciate so many beautiful cabs posted in a row. I end up going back through them all 5 or 6 times, and something different catches my eye each time. I think your photo size is good, so that's not the issue.

jasoninsd, your threads are so filled with awesome rocks that I totally skip and then go back. I think I read the first 3... I'm gonna ask around the club for that next time I go. I have a little slab of Jade too, but I'm chicken about cutting it up! 😂 I need rocks during the winter lol.

I found a cell app called grid art which seems to work well You can tweak the design in a bunch of different ways to make it look a lot better than this. Most of those pictures are AI art based on cats, agates, and Christmas.

Beautiful work and photos. When you are bored, work on some picture jasper.

Thanks my friend! It is what it is, but I wished those Fairburns had been a different color in the fortifications - at least the one. I know the guy who collected these knew his rocks, so I have to believe these are Fairburns, because that's how they were labeled...but had someone just sent me a picture of the slab or cab, I would have bet anything that one was a Teepee Canyon Agate. To be honest, I thought Teepees as well from just looking at the pictures- especially #19. But then I went back and read your descriptions and took a second look and yep I agree with Fairburns. The matrix is what makes me think that they aren't Teepees.
#24 is the one that has me shaking my head...just when I think I can ID them and tell the difference, I get an "outlier" like that one! LOL Wow, gorgeous cabs! "Boring" is definitely not a word I would use to describe them! Thank you so much! Only boring when it came to the "same old" teardrop shapes...otherwise I agree...they might not be quite so boring. Awesome work on those new shapes, they look great! I think you need to start splitting these picture threads up a bit. Maybe different threads or maybe feed us the different cabs at different time of the day. It's almost too much to take in and process at one time... maybe I've got the ADD or something. I won't mention all the bad stuff I said about 21... Thanks my friend! I agree...and won't be posting so many at once from now on...well...I'll try not to. LOL I love that Brazilian Piranha material. There's really some amazing patterns in it. I've only slabbed half the material I have, so once cutting weather happens again, I might need to see what's in the other half. Awesome work on those new shapes, they look great! I think you need to start splitting these picture threads up a bit. Maybe different threads or maybe feed us the different cabs at different time of the day. It's almost too much to take in and process at one time... maybe I've got the ADD or something. I've learned in a janky way to do it, but maybe there is a much easier way putting them in an array? I totally agree with you guys. It becomes too much. I get it. Part of the problem this time is I didn't want to freeze my hands off getting them off dop. It's been so cold out, I only wanted to do it once this week. LOL #3 is a sweet shape and you nailed the points at the top. I like that shape and cab a lot. Should be a good shape to wrap as well. #1 / #2 looks off balance as a stand alone cab, but that should actually give your additional options when wrapping since you can "balance" it. How is that cerium polishing pad holding up? Thanks my friend! I think I may have figured out something chatting with knave yesterday with regards to the "inside swoop". I need to play around a little more with some different material and that same shape as #1 to see if I'm right. I agree with your "off-balance" assessment with regards to the wrap. Yeah...like I said above, I can't wait to see what more "goodies" are hiding in that Piranha! I really had to pick and choose the spots on the GPPA. Lots of small pits to work around...but I think this material is dramatic in the way the plumes present themselves and don't really seem to undercut...until I just said that! LOL I've gotten to work one small piece of Stinking Water. I got it from Tommy when he sent me a package for one of the contests quite awhile ago. I dropped it after I finished it, and it chipped the point off. It's been sitting on my kitchen table FOREVER! I need to rework it one of these days...it's definitely worth saving! So far so good on the cerium pad. I haven't noticed any deterioration whatsoever. Again, I have no clue how long it's going to last, but the "sheet" should be able to be replaced. I was told 3M actually makes the cerium sheet. Might look into what the cost from them would be and make your own disk out of it... I forgot to mention, those Fairburns are bold and beautiful. They look like display pieces, despite being formed as cabs. Are those hard and slow to work like prairie agates? I've never seen a Fairburn in person, much less canned one. I think once they're wrapped, I believe someone will buy them more as a "display" piece, rather than something to wear. I'm pretty sure they'll be something that will eventually sell locally. The price for Fairburns is pretty steep...so I'm going to ask some locals what price they'd expect to see on them and go from there. As far as how hard the are to work is actually dependent on the host rock... Hopefully when you come out, we can get on some good hounding grounds...we may have to see about hooking up with miket to get on the good grounds! As far as canning a Fairburn...that should definitely extend the shelf-life...but I don't think it makes them any more edible! LOL (Stupid typing on a phone! LOL) I think that's a fair criticism. As much as I hate to admit, despite the beautiful workmanship, I will find my self either blowing thru all the pictures or not scrolling thru everything at once and then going back thru a second time. I'm super apprehensive about working the jade...but I'm going to give it a shot and see how it turns out... Beautiful work and photos. When you are bored, work on some picture jasper. Thanks Stephen! I actually have a ton of picture jasper ready to go. Good suggestion. I might just have to make that the theme for my next batch...after I get through the current twenty-two I dopped this morning.

We are a rough crowd!! Haha
This sure beats not posting cabs, or a separate thread for each cab like I do! 😂
Another Option would be individual commentary above each photo to save scrolling up to the top then back down. But superior craftsmanship and too many photos, are usually not something I complain about!!!!

But superior craftsmanship and too many photos, are usually not something I complain about!!!! LOL - I actually totally get it though. It can be cumbersome when you want to make some comments about certain ones...then see another one you want to make a comment on...and so on, until you've forgotten about the first six you wanted to comment on! That happens to me a lot! LOL I like your idea about the individual commentary above each one. I post pics through Tapatalk...which limits me on the "outline" of the post. I have to post on Tapatalk, then come over to the laptop to edit the post just to add picture numbers above each picture. I could at that point add the commentaries above the pics. But...I think the easiest solution is to just post the best of the best and forget the rest. Although sometimes it's fun to see what materials people are working on, regardless of whether it's a special one or not. I always come up with a lengthy title name, so I don't usually have enough space left to warn "Pic Heavy" to the title! Apparently I have a tendency to use too many words as well as too many pictures! LOL

Truthfully, the easiest solution is to post about half as many cabs...some of these really didn't "need" to be posted... Well this is NOT at all what I had in mind when I made the comment. Please don't deprive the community here of your beautiful photos just because I opened my big mouth.

Another Option would be individual commentary above each photo to save scrolling up to the top then back down. Or similar would be to post the explanation of each group above that specific group. Would break it up a little 👍 Your cabs are outstanding, please don't stop posting!

I'm glad people said how they feel. I'm not gonna stop posting...and didn't mean to imply I would. I just won't post such a big batch all at once like this.

I don't find it cumbersome (much less bothersome) that you post a bunch of photos. I find it pretty awesome, actually.
It would simply be a visual treat to see them all on the screen at the same time. Tommy has done this in some posts and I love looking at the big collage.

I'd say something but I would seriously be repeating myself. As pretty as all the cabs are, the rainbow obsidian is otherworldly.
Oh look, I repeated myself ...... Again. Great job brother!

Thank you SO much! So, I'm one of the worst on the forum for IDs...however...I know you're referring to the Velvet Obsidian. Rainbow Obsidian is different...and hopefully I might have some of that kind in the not too distant future (fingers crossed it works out). Rainbow is another "sick" looking obsidian...and I can't wait to see what it could possibly look like!
