I'll jump in here regarding posting your pictures Jason. First off I never tire looking at your creations, they are top notch and beautiful, you can certainly put them up how you want. But: I find it so much easier when pictures are preceded by their description, since I've already forgotten what each one was as I scroll through them. And since I don't have any idea what most rocks are, I keep going back to the top to see what you had described them as. Such as: #1 Picture Jasper **photo here**
#2 Howlite **photo here**
They could theoretically run say 4 across, etc.
However you decide to post your creations, keep it up. They are ALWAYS a treat.
Thanks

I'd say something but I would seriously be repeating myself. As pretty as all the cabs are, the rainbow obsidian is otherworldly. Oh look, I repeated myself ...... Again. Great job brother! Thank you SO much! So, I'm one of the worst on the forum for IDs...however...I know you're referring to the Velvet Obsidian. Rainbow Obsidian is different...and hopefully I might have some of that kind in the not too distant future (fingers crossed it works out). Rainbow is another "sick" looking obsidian...and I can't wait to see what it could possibly look like! I stand corrected yet will happily write that down since I'm going to (already do) want to get some of that in my life.

Thanks Don, I seriously appreciate both your comments and your input...as I have appreciated everyone else's as well. I post the pictures of my cabs and wraps for others to see...if I was doing it just for me, I'd just look at the pictures on my phone without posting them. LOL - So, I do want to try and make it the best for everyone involved...as well as the "easiest" for me. If I run the pictures two (or more) across, they're too small for some people... If I post the pictures in their normal size, they're too big for some people... If I post only a couple cabs in a thread, it's not enough for some people... If I post all the cabs at once, it's too much for most people! LOL None of that was meant as whining...just pointing out what I learned a long time ago...I can't please everyone...but I can try to please as many as I can. I think from now on, I won't "overload" the threads with so many at once....but in no way has this discussion deterred me from posting pictures. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed the input.

I'm going to stop writing down the types of material I DO want...I think the list would be a lot shorter and more manageable if I just wrote down the material I "don't" want!

The cool thing about rainbow (at least that I've got) is different layers are different colors, so playing with cab shape and dome height can get you some interesting results. With that said, I've never seen any rainbow obsidian as impressive as your velvet obsidian. Fell free to prove me wrong.

Just do it in a way that works for you, my friend. We'll figure it out from person to person. Last I checked, there's no SOP (good thing, or it would start feeling like work). The pictures are worth a little scrolling back and forth. You're right. You can't please everyone. Turns out that's true, even when you give stuff away, sometimes.

Well...give me something and let's see if I'm pleased! (Just think of that as words of encouragement for you to start putting the next box together! LOL) I'm going to do what works for me...but will also try and "modify" future threads...as best easily as I can. Thanks for posting that Brent! After it was mentioned earlier, I did a little more reading on them. Pretty handy tool!

They work well for smaller cabs. I have GOT to start making some smaller cabs! I think 99.83% of all my cabs are medium to large! LOL *Why is it you can buy a large pizza or a medium pizza...but there's never a small pizza? If there isn't a small pizza, how can you have a medium pizza since that would be the size between large and small. Shouldn't there just be large pizzas and small pizzas? These are the questions that keep me up at night! LOL

There used to be a small pizza. I think they call the "personal" pizzas now.

A large crazy lace cab almost always has too much going on to really have a coherent design. Composition is much easier with a smallish cab. Small is also nice for materials with interesting colors but little pattern. A small, round, bright red cab could make nice jewelry. A large, round, bright red cab looks like a clown nose. As for pizza.. By eliminating the small (and calling it a medium), you can call the FKA large pizza -- "Extra Large." And who doesn't want an extra large pizza?

I think I need to first figure out what my apprehension is with making small cabs. I'm really not sure why it is. They're FAR easier to make that's for sure! I see what you're saying about smaller cabs allowing for less patterning so it's not "overwhelming"... Pizza - I've noticed now several places have now classified the XL as "family" size...but what if one family has 2 people in it, but another has 12 people in it...which "family" are they referring to? LOL

LOL Ever have a nice slab, but no matter how many different templates you try, you just can't seem to find one that does the slab any justice? Used to happen to me quite often, and I would just set those slab aside. Very recently I went back over those same slabs with smaller templates and BAMM! Tons of create options. This was really an eye opener for me. It is the same point I made in my last post. I'm just sharing how I discovered it. Your "family" size pizza observation made me think of the Spanish name for a full size bed (as in twin, full, queen, king). At least in Ecuador, where my wife is from, a full size bed is called a "cama matrimonial" -- the literal translation of which is "marital bed." This raises interesting questions about bed sizes and their relationship (if any) to the marital status of the occupants. And if a full size bed is enough for a married couple, what about the larger sizes? And what if an unmarried couple ate a family size pizza in a "cama matrimonial"? Something to think about.
