OMG James, what is that? The big one on the right looks like pet wood. LOL I can't believe the way you bust that stuff up. Is that something you can try knapping with, boy would that make some pretty arrowheads.

Hi guy's. Yes, it is indeed some of that fine Arizona petrified wood. It's getting hard to find these babies! I got this from an old man who's been collecting since the 50's. Unfortunately, it doesn't knap.

Those are copper billets used for flintknapping. Copper is less abusive to the stone.

James-
Good looking stuff you've got there. Put your traditional shine on them and hang on to your hat!!!!! As usual, I love the reds.

Oh, I don't know if you ever saw my picts of the petrified wood I slabbed and had polished but it was almost the exact same size as yours and it turned out great? I would highly recommend you save that other piece to have slabbed as it would make a nice mantle piece or something. If you'd like my link to the petrified wood picts PM me.

James-
The piece on the left looks like a head of one of the US President's head on a coin.

Just watching that whole process was somehow satisfying, almost like whackin' rock myself. Thanx James. Please post pics as you work them. I look forward to the colors.

I have a 12 pound hunk of the stuff myself and was wondering if it would be sacreligious to whack it to pieces. Thanks for showing me the way...

James, Looks like you have some extra there! Can you heat-treat this material to be able to knap it? It's going to look terrific when you get done tumbling...but that would make for a great looking spear point! Steve
