Does anyone have any good sources for this type of material or at least the name of material that looks similar to this?
Prefer something with hematite if I'm being real needy.
These are just examples of what I'm trying to find for tumbling.

have a chunk got from a vendor RGonzo at the Flagg Show many moons ago my sample is really dense and hard! & not real colorful I'd say all the hematite in it is billion years compressed heavy metalized so my sample wouldn't be good for tumbling I really like it tho butte did you ever see this I posted long ago, Chad ? long story and not for this thread so later hope you find a source ...

If you want to add another dimension you could go with Tiger Iron, one of my favorites. Kingsley currently has it as well. We were just making some magnets over the weekend and it is a kick to see the magnets jump at a rock that has Hematite. Happened with the Tiger Iron, Mary Ellen jasper and a Jasper/Hematite blend.

I have a 55 gallon drum of banded Hematite, some of the bands are reddish and some are whiteish.

Nope, this: kingsleynorth.com/tiger-iron-africa.htmlHonestly the picture on their site doesn't do it justice.

I have a place where it is possible to collect hematite/jasper by the truckload outside of Temagami Ontario (Canada). Any size. I'd be happy to send you some rocks for free, but shipping would be expensive. It is heavy. Probably better to source from the US

Yo Chad That BIF monstrosity is displayed at stone warehouse called Stone Canyon Years ago I stumbled upon it The owner of this a large warehouse/supplier happened to be outside & explained it was his 75,000 dollar rock Quarried in Italy So the story goes An attempt was to slab it After numerous tries to cut always through 3 diamond band- saw blades- snapped ! Claiming each blade cost 25,000 dollars Something at the bottom of that stone is impenetrable Well that the story he told me Maybe its displayed for just for conversation sake? Buute it is a butte to stay with the thread I took this picture yesterday Of my chunk of the 3x2x1 banded iron Not very photogenic Dense! that rock weigh about 4 pounds I like it! As a side note That piece of gleaming schist the band iron is on top of is my most excellent find yesterday Really stoked about that...

mohs sounds like he tells a good story, true or not lol. Your piece looks like it belongs on a sledge hammer, would knock someone silly.
