He everyone! I recently acquired a used Craftool TR-8 10" lapidary saw and cannot locate any useful information about it on the web (ie: operation manual; parts; restoration advice, etc.). The only discussions I've found about it is that Craftool is/was a Sears brand, and it is likely from the 1960's. It's in pretty decent shape, visually. If I can figure out how to load photos here, I'll post some.
It did not come with a v-belt so I'm looking for insight into how to choose the right belt size, etc. The blade needs replacing, but that seems pretty straight forward. The wiring for the Dayton electric motor was cut, so I need to rewire it and open to resources for DIY wiring. Wire it for a straight wall plug, or wire it for an on/off switch? I have no experience with restoring these saws, so any advice is very much appreciated...including good outlets for parts, manuals, best oil to use, etc.
Open to any and all insight into this particular saw (Craftool TR-8). Thank you in advance for your time and wisdom!

To set up your Cloudinary account to post pictures, use the Cloudinary Tutorial. It takes a little time, but if you follow it exactly all you will need to do is click the Cloudinary Upload button at the top right of your screen, select your picture and viola!

A belt length calculator is below. It is good to first calculate blade RPM, modern sintered saw blades are made to run much faster than the old blades and older equipment may be set up for the old style blades. A 10" sintered blade should about 1500 to 1800 RPM so for a standard 1725 RPM motor both pulleys should be the same size. Once you have the pulleys you want, loosen adjustment sbolts and slide the motor as close as it can be to the blade pulley, then measure and use the calculator. www.jhf.com/training-and-resources/units-converter/calculate-v-belt-length/

Thank you hummingbirdstones for the insight into uploading photos. I think I was successful in setting it up, so I'll try attaching a photo. Actually, maybe I won't as it keeps failing to upload and giving me a message saying "upload preset must be whitelisted for unsigned uploads". No idea what that means, but will look back at the Cloudinary Tutorial. Thank you Rockoonz for the helpful information. It has a standard 1725 RPM Dayton motor with a 2.25" pulley on the motor and a 2" pulley on the blade arbor.
