I have the 12 " version of the Slik Drop Saw that I only use for materials that are best slabbed with water. It can be used with oil too but is very messy. So I only use it outdoors and with water. After looking at the rest of the photos of the 14" model linked on eBay I see it is one of the models with the hydraulic mechanism to control the drop of the blade. My 12" model does not.

Slik also used to make a model with a hydraulic mechanism to control the gravity feed rate drop of the blade.
Yeah, it looked and sounded to me to be very messy. A lot of hydraulics to go bad, too, I'm thinking.

I like the hood design on that Slik 14" on eBay. I don't know if that was stock or not but it looks like it would be fairly easy to replicate for most any model of boxed-in based drop saw.

quartz that's different from the last Roy's I saw that Tim from Orerockon was selling. Very cool and a neat piece of working history. Thanks!

Here is a cute little 10" vib lap sold by Sears I picked up this last weekend on a package deal. It looks practically brand new.

Not really sure how old it is (maybe 80's); However the company did have to go into their archives to provide me instructions on it. I picked it up from my Dad's friend last Sunday. In order to take the tumbler, I also "had" to take a like-branded 10" trim saw.

Cool. Is that a 12" Lortone? It is a 10", I believe it is a ST 10 model, I see some people listing them as a LS10. I need to research a little more. I had one of these long ago, they are good cutting saws for the smalls.

That's the LS10. The TS10 was the "modern" version.
Manual / Instructions were still online a couple of years ago. If they're gone now I can email you the pdf.

No date except that reference to the Life Magazine article. I’d guess around 1950 give or take some.

There was a unit that resembled the No. 1000 Cabbing Unit at our club's silent auction yesterday... . Built to last, right?
