Holy cow Joe! Your work are is so clean! My shop always looks like a nuke hit a rock pile. Now you've made me feel bad and I'm thinking maybe I'd better clean up a bit *L*. Keep up the good pics. Now that you know how to post there's no excuse for not posting. I'd especially like to see pics of any rocks you might have in your area. Never hunted there myself...mel

Okay, let me try again to reinforce my new skills. This is a piece of pet wood my Dad picked up in petrified forest of Az. back in 1952. He keeps telling me he could have filled the trunk up back then. I keep asking why he didn't.

Thanx Mel! The area I saw in is much worse! The really ugly stuff gets done in the garage or the yard. Also I've only been tumbling for about 6 mos. now. When I've tumbled as long as you have I bet I'll have a professional mess! I'm just starting to learn about local jasper and agate (NOT plentiful like yours) hunting in my area. There are places that only the local rockhounds know. I'm just getting to know the local rockhounds. Maybe by springtime I'll know where to get polishable rock. Joe

Nice pet wood Joe. Don't know too muc about Colorado rockhounding but a buddy of mine explored quite a bit in the NW corner of the state and found good wood and bone. He also found nice stuff from around Del Norte. A book I have mentions Pawnee Butte west of Stoneham which is only an hour or so east of you as being a good location for agate and jasper.......mel

Yeah! I think this was well spent cash. I do color correction in Photoshop before I post. It helps. Pawnee Buttes, cool! I know where that is. I found an arrowhead out there once. That was before I knew about rock polishing. Now all I need is warmer weather and the wind to stop blowing.

Beautiful pet wood, Joe. I wish your dad had filled the truck up too. Colorful pet wood is a great find. Nice pics, BTW. But it is shameful how clean your tumbling area is. It's more fun when you make a big ole mess!

Joe, First thing I noticed was no mess on those tumblers! Give it a few more months. I also expect great things to come from you....the pics so far are perfectly clear! Have fun in Colorado and try to stay warm. Steve

YaY Joe!!! Nice pics, great job on them, size and all. Ummm yeah, that tumbling area is like way too clean, but then what about the areas beside it or hiding behind the sides of the cardboard. I'll bet there's a real rockhound mess in there somewhere. *smile*

Ok, I'm getting scared. This is the instruction book. Isn't it unusual for it to say "CE" on it? Please reassure me that Nikon is NOT made by Chicago Electric! Ha ha ha! I learned reading here that we should be squeeky clean with our equipment. So I'm trying! Thanx for all the comments. Joe

OMG Joe, I have no idea what that means but yeah, it's scary. Are you sure there's no fans or pulleys in that camera?

joe - too clean! Just went to your web site. Awesome images! I am just learning to use Photoshop and a fractal program. A computer tablet would be next on my list, I thought - then I fell in love with rocks all over again. Too many toys, not enough time. Maybe when I retire..................... Take care, retror

Well, I admit that the tumblers are downstairs. But I have never ever opened a barrel down there. I always take them out to the yard and hose it all down. Heavy on the water. That keeps it pretty clean! Edog I hope to saw rock tomorrow if it warms up out in garage. Then I should have a world class mess for you. I looked real close at that camera and I swear I saw a teeny tiny belt (real cheap!) being driven by a child hamster in a small cage! No wonder it was inexpensive. Retro, Pshop is flat out the most creative thing you can do on a computer!! Ok ok, at least for me. As you learn be aware that there at least 57 ways to do each thing you can do in Pshop. This allows for MUCH creativity but it can confuse the beginner. Fractals are also a lot of fun. What type of computer and what program are you using? I use a Mac and can recommend several programs you can use for Mac or Windows. Let me know! Joe
