That's one way to get a kitchen pass. I'd say bring the Iguana but concerned the housekeeper's may cook him up. Only two timing concerns here, heat and deer season.

A few more. Duds or beauties they all fascinate me. This looks like a lower grade Flower Garden agate from the Woodward Ranch 400 miles away in west Texas. No way to be sure. Petrified plant or wood silicified mud with dino blood(not really blood) Too complex for me

A wild one Mixed Mixed Mosser Healed jasper This wood(?) has palm looking fiber, faint growth rings and some vertical vascular banding. Complex Closer in, looks like palm fibers in top section, growth rings left to right in center, and vertical vascular lines at lower right

Lol rockpickerforever. Been a looong time hearing that one. Original has been around a long time - This song was originally recorded by Australian rocker Johnny O'Keefe with The Deejays in 1958 as "Wild One." Australian rock is always powerful.

That mixed mosser is fantastic! Moss agate is likely the most found agate out that way Robin. The challenge is in finding moss in brighter colors. The beauty of Rio cobbles is that their rough trip to south Texas removed most of the porous skin and weak sections and left the solid material in the cobble. The finest mosses are often bleached dead white suggesting they were well healed/filled with crystal clear chalcedony. The clearest of chalcedony' often bleaches to the whitest patina's which hides the guts. One of the finest moss agates(Flower Garden) seems transported from the Woodward ranch. It can have purple yellow red orange and yellow in one cobble. I had the opportunity to dig Flower Garden out of a hillside at Woodward. It was in mass vein form up there and they charged nice per pound. Woodward Ranch is a trip from an agate collector's view. She said the agate amygdule rich basalt was 800 feet deep. The nodules on the surface were eroded out of the basalt over time and mostly picked clean. The early find plume nodules were as big as basketballs. Cathedral Mountain was likely the source of the agate rich basalt:

Typical character of a fine artist and she does shine in that area.

These particular pieces are each and every one the "bomb"!! I hope you didn't hit your head on that wild Cheyenne River trip Jason. I bet you had a riot. Man am I envious. I need to stop by and see your trip report. I am planning a trip back to south Texas with a boat this time. I want to run the west Rio where the Big Bend canyons are. Guessing you saw your share of steep canyons on your Cheyanne trip. You are fortunate to have such resources close to your home.

LOL The Cheyenne River basin is interesting. It's pretty wide across most of the way, so the "steep" areas are few and far between. There are some...and I should have tried to get more pictures of them...but am always afraid of dropping my phone in the river...like last year! LOL Here's a shot of one area...not the best example. However, it does show the steepest areas next to the river yield no rocks. The rocks are deeper than the hillsides.

No matter if the canyons are 500 feet tall the scenery and pretty rocks are everywhere out there. Cool water and a fine ride. Pelican box works fine for protecting phone/camera from water. I smoke so a dry spot is required. I so wish to run those rivers out there. Bet that water is slap cold.
