It fit the bill, jamesp . That, and I know Tela rockjunquie loves Iggy Pop! That woman has some eclectic tastes in music, lol. Tela eclectic ? Typical character of a fine artist and she does shine in that area. Awww- y'all are too kind. Eclectic is a high compliment.

I still have that wrap you did that has the wires running thru a center point on the backside of the cab. I think it was a new design you had come up with. I was curious if that design ever became part of your wrapping arsenal.

mohs transcends sophistication. Do you live in a black hole Ed ? Perhaps a tiny nuclear reactor is mounted in your cranial cavity ? Or perhaps in some other cavity lol ? I know you are a powerful thinker and draw hard on your mind.

Nah...this year's trip was boring compared to last year's adventure. LOL The Cheyenne River basin is interesting. It's pretty wide across most of the way, so the "steep" areas are few and far between. There are some...and I should have tried to get more pictures of them...but am always afraid of dropping my phone in the river...like last year! LOL Here's a shot of one area...not the best example. However, it does show the steepest areas next to the river yield no rocks. The rocks are deeper than the hillsides. No matter if the canyons are 500 feet tall the scenery and pretty rocks are everywhere out there. Cool water and a fine ride. Pelican box works fine for protecting phone/camera from water. I smoke so a dry spot is required. I so wish to run those rivers out there. Bet that water is slap cold. Yeah...I love being out there and seeing the scenery - or more to the point being "in" the scenery. It's heaven on earth to me. I used a tightly sealed Tupperware (Gladware now I guess!) container with my phone inside a Ziploc bag - inside the container! I wasn't taking any chances this year! LOL - I had to have another container for my smokes and lighter! The temp of the river is a bit chilly first thing in the Spring...but isn't too bad as the summer goes on...no different than a lot of rivers I suppose...

I think mohs is encapsulated in this one for a time. RickB could knap a spear out of this chert since it is glassy. Unattractive palm, but beautiful palm was found. Magnification shows fossil forms in this cobble too

Yohs James find a similar type of pockmarked rock in the Salt River wondered what causes the dimples ? being that these samples are sedimentary figured some softer organic material was in embedded in the sediment and being softer that material weather outs? Plus do you think this is glass And what type ? Thanks

It really looks like palm mohs. Compare to surface shot above and it really looks identical. But there are plenty of calcium carbo critters that could have left those pits. Even sponge boreholes can leave such but usually in seashells. All these Rio cobbles are found in caliche. I guess all caliche is a sedimentary deposit - asking ? Does AZ have caliche(better known as 5000 psi ash concrete ) ? 100% glass, a slagger for sure. Question is, what is that crystallized rock behind it ?

That another good question James Some sort of metallic crystal structure on a really killer piece of sedimentary rock Trying to figure out what type of meatal? Lead, galena, or some other ? Not sure where it was mined most likely Mexico or AZ sure it came form deep in the ground The metallic substance & the the growth is on both sides of the rocks What could cause that phenomena? forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/96237/daza-gneiss?page=11Interesting- about what I assumed is a pockmarked sedimentary sandstone! I find lots of that in the Salt So thanks for another idea Caliche is a total mystery to me Its abundant Because the Hohokam used it as binding agent On their platform mound I don’t know if they mined it already soft Or if they mixed a dry powder with river water to make a cement? The rocks used for the walls- they hauled From a distant location mountain location Some fold have wondered why they just didn’t take the river cobbles which was real close tho their settlement My answer is those rocks are to hard to form for the walls The rocks from the mountains are softer Lots of schist Easy to break Plus James I really don't mean to derail the thread Ya knohs …one silly thing leads to another Just being to over friendly Plus like many RTH is my only source of un-isolation Sad- butte it can happen to us old timers too easy to post - just to stay - what seems to be the new way- Aliveness Not posting-- well ya might as well just hang up your mouse Uggghhhhhgg ....
