My wife also does rock collecting but a completely different technique. She gets flatter smooth rocks and paint designs on them. I've been going to post some of these for a while. The poll that rockjunquie started inspired me to get off my butt and do it. I've seen a lot of painted rocks but her stuff is different than most that I see. This actually started as a way to stay off pain meds when she had knee surgery. She had one narcotic pain pill while she was in recovery at the hospital and that was the only thing she had stronger than acetaminophen for the entire healing process. She does a lot of these. Everything is completely free hand. No patterns, no guidelines. She just starts painting. She's actually branched out from this into painting designs on The back side of glass and small picture frames and also some work with stained glass hearts.

Those are very impressive! I can't believe that she is able to be so precise free-handing those designs. Please share my compliments to your wife!

Very cool- those type of henna designs are so complex with little details & her paintings are clear & crisp.
Nicely done.
Thanks for sharing,
Patty

Very beautiful. That type of rock painting is very tough to do.

Those are wonderful! I couldn't even paint - or draw! - them on a flat canvas, let alone a 3D rock. Or envision the designs in my head to do them.
Beautiful work, your wife is extremely talented.

I shared your comments with my wife Diane and she is very appreciative. I keep trying to tell her she's an artist, she thinks she's not because she can't paint a picture of a house or a landscape. She's also a good photographer. The rocks in the picture are some of her favorites. This is one that I liked that I took for my desk at work.

This is a batch she made to give away. She's left them at the chemo center and the Cancer center that she's being treated at for patients to take home with them.
