Whatever the case, my apologies at using the "R M" phrase here. I did not know the phrase was now frowned upon around here... Oh hell no don't apologize. You were speculating early on in the release of news from this atrocity and given recent world events with terrorist activity and killings, guessing that it may have been a "radical" muzzie was as valid a guess as any. Had this happened in Europe, I would imagine that you might have been correct. Maybe it is a good thing (if that is possible) that it was just a wacko old white guy nutjob using guns in this case. Your street variety "R M" might have thought to use a semi truck - which probably would have ended in a much higher body count.

Sorry kiddo, don't see that happening. Over 1000 miles driving each way during one of the worst weeks of the summer to travel to a location that will no doubt be crowded with summer wannabe rockhounds and to collect a single type of rock - nope, don't see it happening. Meeting some of the folks here would be fun, but the timing (4th of July weekend) and lack of variety at the destination don't make such a 2000+ mile round trip appealing to me. Long way to go for a kegger and cook out, and I wouldn't plan such a trip just based on someone else's schedule. That location might be a fun leg of a trip that could include stopping in Kentucky to hunt agates & geodes and hitting other promising rock sites along the way there and back. Bettin' there are lots of interesting rocks between Florida and Ohio - and members here to show us their local honey holes. Gotta be more than a few milk crates of a common rock at the end of the rainbow. Come kidnap me sometime when it's not the 4th of July week and we'll hound up some rocks! STILL waiting on your Utah trip report

criminy ... Top CBS lawyer: No sympathy for Vegas victims, 'probably Republicans'www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/10/02/top-cbs-lawyer-no-sympathy-for-vegas-vics-probably-republicans.htmlA top lawyer for CBS said she is “not even sympathetic” to victims of the Las Vegas shooting because “country music fans often are Republican,” when discussing the tragic mass shooting that occurred in Las Vegas late Sunday night.
Geftman-Gold continued: “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc [sic] country music fans often are Republican gun toters [sic].”
“CBS is looking into the matter,” a company spokeswoman told Fox News.

How those that can't deal with different points of view or feel the need for a "safe space" or to run and tell when presented with something with which they don't agree will ever make it in life I have no clue. I reckon some don't and will always remain children and/or child like. It's a pity really ... a society of betas and snowflakes. Not sure how you can post this while also posting in the Shoutbox "Need to mull over what more I want to say, 'cuz I'm pretty pissed off right now. Thinking we lost a good one due to a whiner." I'm failing to understand what you mean there ChicagoDave . How does one conflict with the other? I have been in contact with Cliff since he left. In the shoutbox I said that I needed to think over what I wanted to post about his leaving as I probably know more of his reason(ing) than most. Whether to share more or not. I think folks should know the why, but don't believe I want to get in the middle of that mess. I believe he left due to exactly what I wrote in the paragraph you quoted above. That's pretty much the reason that I wrote it! Too much between the lines there? I know it can be hard to keep up.Someone ran and told. And, I'm "Thinking we lost a good one due to a whiner." But there are more important things in life ...

If you're gonna do something, do it right. The above, Mr. Duke, is doing it right! Nice job.

Well, I guess that cop shoulda stole that beach ball and more.... My bad. Nope, not my point at all. This thread started out just great. Just sayin' it went way out into left field when it went from a happening in a university campus to little Joey wearing a Save the Boobies bracelet in a public school. Apples to oranges. Children in grade school, jr. high and high school can't and shouldn't have the freedom of expression that should be permitted and expected in a college setting. By the same token, those in higher learning institutions ( and beyond) should be able to cope with differing opinions without having to call for a nanny or run to a safe space. How those that can't deal with different points of view or feel the need for a "safe space" or to run and tell when presented with something with which they don't agree will ever make it in life I have no clue. I reckon some don't and will always remain children and/or child like. It's a pity really ... a society of betas and snowflakes.

Freedom of expression in a school ...bwhahahaha
Can you imagine what a zoo the place would be within 30 minutes if all the little idiots were told that they now have freedom of expression?
LMAO

This thread went full retard in a quickness.
Heck, kids can't wear American flags on their shirts in some schools because someone might be offended.
Schools can and do ban pretty much whatever they want to and for whatever reason they make up.
And while "Joseph" may have some rights, being a student in school he doesn't have all the rights that Joe Adult Citizen may have walking down Main Street USA. A school dress code, for instance, may say that a student must not have their underwear showing above their pants.

July 4th weekend. Seems travel would be a bear, and the place is probably packed that time of year. Does it get hot in Ohio? Figure if it does, July would be when.
How about some time when it's cooler, and less likely to be crowded? Better picking & digging if there aren't a hundred other rockhounds crawling all over the place.

Rob - Cut 'em and you are likely to only have the banding show on the cut face, as they probably won't run long enough to remove the plain outer layer around the entire rock. Let 'em run whole and you will have the banding showing surface wide.
I put some in a load in February, my first time for Bots. After 3 or 4 months, I still had just plain grey rounded rocks. I'm thinking what the heck, did I get duds or what? Pulled most of them out and threw in my maybe someday bucket and just let 3 continue to run. Still just boring and with no banding at all.
The 3 are in a barrel I'd just blown off for sometime. I last checked the barrel on July 30. Opened it this past Friday, Sept 29th, so it had been running for 2 months. (yeah, I know... I'm a tumbling slacker) Outer plain layer entirely worn away. May have happened a month ago... I don't know! But the Bots are fantastic. Moved to AO 500 pre-polish. Will keep a closer eye on them now that I know they aren't duds!
Have a box of these things that I got some years ago. Now that I know, I will be looking for that box. The tumble will take awhile, but that's not unusual around here! They sure are worth the time when you get down to the center treat.

Chuck, that is going to be an awesome batch! Please post some pics along the way before they get to polished.
Rob, don't cut your Bots! Let them run. May have to add them to other batches for months before they get there, but it will be worth the wait. Like getting to the center of a tootsie pop. It's amazing when the "plain" outside finally gets worn away.

Wonder if they would subdivide the rock rich area from the "ranch" and surround homestead area.
I wanna move to Texas, and I like rocks, but not 8 million worth!

You, and your daughter, sure nailed it on shaping the rocks. Well done.
Some rocks just will not take a shine. No fault of yours.
I would call this a win!
Oddly, my favorites are the pure white stones in the last picture. Try some agates or jasper sometime if you want a batch that shines.
