John (jsgems) sells the gy-rocs. I don't have any experience with them, but from what I've been told they're every bit as good as the UV-10.

For all who are coming, tell me your dates. I'm going to try to arrange a get-together at my place.

Congrats!
Yep, as John said, load up on rock. I was running a 50 lb.+ rotary for rough grind to keep my UV-18 fed.

Nice looking steelhead Fossil! Jean reminded me of an experience I had: I was working in Alaska and one of the guys I was working with give me a couple of vacuum sealed King salmon fillets. He was getting tired of eating salmon and was starting to feed his dogs with it. Anyway, it was the reddest salmon I've ever seen and also the best tasting I've ever had. Chuck

Yeah, cutting Lakers, especially that size, is a criminal offense in Minnesota.
Congrats Marie!!! I've never found one bigger than a couple of ounces.
I was going to say it looks like a big potato, too.

My brother just caught a 20 lb and a 30 lb salmon. Not sure if he caught them on the Rogue (where he lives) or off the coast. He's got a t-shirt that says "ain't no nookie like Chinookie".

We had a poll here a couple of years ago and the winner was just below the bottom of the top layer of rocks.

That's a biggun, Adrian! My wife always tells me "it's the quality, not the quantity". I think she's just trying to make me feel better. Chuck

Except for the fender guards and wheels, it looks just like my '94 Ranger did. Congrats!

Yes, the large tumblers are definitely a lot more work.
Don't worry about the hardware cloth. At most you'll end up with some streaks on the rocks, but those will come off quickly in the next stage. I built a screen box for mine.

I agree on the wood ID. As for species, I'll leave that to the experts.
