Link not working for me. Funny... I put your "Arrow Profile/Sapphire Water Drip Tank w/Stand" on my watch list this morning before seeing your post here. ETA: see if this link works - www.ebay.com/sch/quailriver/m.html?item=112237549096&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562Still does not work for me. For some reason, keeps linking to eBay Canada. Which I believe is caused by this forum, have had this happen on other sellers pages as well. Will buy drip tank here off eBay (Paypal gift payment) at that price if you want to save the eBay/Paypal fees. Both links are working for me. So I'm not sure if it just doesn't work on certain device systems or if it's the eBay regional servers. From what I've been reading lately many of eBay's regional servers are old and worn out but eBay won't spring for new ones. Some area's of the country have been having lots of problems navigating eBay as a result. DownDector's webs site shows a map of eBay's current problem areas and can be viewed at the following link (from the main page just click on the "Live Outage Map" and pan and zoom in to your area to see if that may be the issue). downdetector.com/status/ebayAs for the Water Drip Pot thanks for the offer but once I list items in the auction format I don't like to end the auctions early. It's not fair to, and ticks-off others who were interested for a seller to offer and item and then retract it. Larry C.

I've just listed around thirty lots of Faceting related items: Rough (both natural and synthetic), several sets of Raytech-Shaw Dops, a set of Arrow Profile/Sapphire machine Dops (will also fit Prismatic and Poly-Metric), an Electric Preformer, an Imahashi Faceting Hand Piece (missing the collet). And also a set of 18 Stone Setting and Engraving Tools. Anyone interested can view them at this link: www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_ipg=50&_ssn=quailriver&_sop=10Or just do an eBay seller search for QuailRiver. Here is a preview... Larry C.

I really don't think they have a lot of options. Global free trade has decimated western manufacturing. The majority of the U.S. and European manufacturing companies have closed their factories. Many that have outsourced their production to China are now selling imported junk products under their old western brand names but it's not even close to being the same quality. Even many of the Japanese tool manufacturers that used to make decent tools are now outsourcing their production to China. So retailers either have to sell Chinese (or third world) made junk or they have nothing to sell.
So when I need hand tools, files, saw blades, bearings, etc. I look for new-old-stock western made on eBay, or unused/lightly used ones at estate sales first. Also old small town country stores that have been around for decades sometimes still have a few old-stock U.S.A. and European made files, hand saws, specialty hammers, and other tools for sale.

21 lbs of Lapidary Rough End Cuts *SOLD* This lot contains 21 pounds of mostly lapidary rough end cuts. Materials included are: Blue Tiger Eye, Riviera Agate, Flame Agate, Llanite, Rocky Butte Jasper, Cripple Creek Picture Jasper, Palomino Picture Jasper, Polychrome Jasper, Owyhee Dendritic Jasper, Ocean Jasper, Agatized Coprolite, Howlite, Golden Tiger Eye, Crazy Lace Agate, Chrysocolla, Larsonite (Gary Green Jasper) and other misc Agates. There's still a lot of good lapidary material in this lot. Some of these pieces are thick enough to mount in a slab grabber or glue to a wooden block to get another slab or two off of and some pieces are only thick enough to trim out and cab, or tumble. A few of the pieces have some thin areas too so I encourage you to look closely at all photos (capture the photos and enlarge them in your photo browser if you have the ability to do so), especially of the rear views in order to get a good perception the thicknesses. Also to give a sense of scale, the screen wire mesh in the background of the photos is 1/4" square mesh. Photos were taken wet in direct sunlight of both the front and rear sides of the material. I'm going to offer this lot as an auction with a starting bid of $25 (plus $13.45 shipping via USPS Priority Medium Flat Rate Box anywhere in the United States). Sorry, no international shipping. The bidding will end Monday night December 5th at midnight (eastern time zone). And please let's use whole dollar increments. Thank you! This pretty material is layers of colored ceramic glaze and colored ceramic slip applied one layer on top of another that is allowed to air dry and is then fired in a kiln to vitrify it.

If it is pitted with rust I would sand blast those areas before priming it.

The item to the right in your last photos is a tapered drive cone. Ultra-Tec and the old Seattle Fac-Ette machines used this type of drive cone and a beveled arbor platen in lieu of a belt and pulley drive system. The item at the bottom of the group looks like a brass ferrule like those used on the wooden handles of wood carving chisels and tools to help prevent the wood handle from splitting under stress during use. www.leevalley.com/US/wood/page.aspx?p=30021&cat=1,41504 Larry C.
QuailRiver, that's really not the case in my situation. As a jeweler I operate on the "less is more" principle - never use sufficient force to cause damage. Maybe I was under-tightening the nut by hand but I noticed it loosening enough now and then to cause alignment problems. Now I just give it a very, very gentle squeeze with pliers to make sure it's firmly set. The nut's fine.
I've cut many stones on several different Raytech-Shaw machines and don't recall ever having a hand tightened dop nut come loose while faceting. So I'm really not understanding the "less is more" principle being applied to using pliers to tighten a knurled nut on aluminum threads. But hey, to each their own! Larry C.

There's a primative Youtube video posted online that shows the Raytech-Shaw machine handpiece being used.
And if a pair of pliers is having to be used to keep the dop nut tight then it's time to replace the nut. Either the treads are worn out in the nut or the threads are worn out on the dops. If it's the dops that are worn then replacing the nut with a new one with unworn threads will help.

I'm too impatient for all of that. I just squeegee off the oil from the slabs. Then wipe the slabs off with a paper towel and put them in a recycled one gallon plastic ice cream tub with about 1/2" of lacquer thinner in the bottom. Let the slabs sit in the thinner until the next slabs are sawn. Then using neoprene coated gloves, remove the slabs from the thinner and wipe them down with a clean paper towel and wa-lah. The oil is gone. When the lacquer thinner gets so dirty it starts turning yellow I replace it.
(*Only use lacquer thinner in a well ventilated area away from sparks or flame and read the safety instructions on the label.)

Agatized Oolite is another one of those orbicular materials that I almost have an OCD-ish thing for. LOVE IT! Apparently there are several locations across the country where it has been found but all I ever see nowadays is material out of old collections with no provenance. I've got a few different types but do not know specifically where any of it is from. [ Paging Mel ] Larry C.

Used Lortone FL20 Vibrating Lap I have a barely used Lortone FL20 Vibrating Lap for sale which is used for grinding, sanding and polishing stone slabs, geodes, thundereggs, bookends, etc.. I purchased this machine out of the estate of a deceased rockhound in Georgia. The aluminum pans measure 19-1/2" in diameter. The aluminum grit pan only appears to have been used once or twice and the aluminum polishing pan and polishing pad do not appear to have ever been used at all. Despite having had very little use, this machine was stored in a basement for over twenty years and does have a little cosmetic rust on the exterior of the steel base as can be seen in the photos. The motor runs smoothly and everything functions properly. The Lortone FL20 Vibrating Lap is no longer in production but Lortone still has a pdf file of the owner's manual their web site. www.lortone.com/pdf/FL_Instructions.pdfShipping weight is estimated at 56 lbs. The price is $375 plus shipping via Fed Ex Home Delivery. To give an idea of shipping cost, shipping via Fed Ex Home Delivery from our location in North Carolina to Atlanta, GA would be approximately $39.92. To central U.S.A., Oklahoma City, Ok would be approximately $48.98. And to ship to Los Angles, CA would cost approximately $67.41. If interested in purchasing PM me, or email me your shipping address at QuailRiver@aol.com and I will send you a Pay Pal invoice including the shipping total to your given address. Thanks for looking! Larry C.

Just curious - what is the small silver metal piece in front of the blade in pic #7? It is one of three metal clips that are secured onto threaded metal post with wingnuts that attach the saw to the splash pan. Larry C.
