If you had a pocket size pin-pointer metal detector it would let you know if it was a metal or not. Pretty nice looking rock no matter what. I’m interested in that device I may need one stopped to admire this boulder In what appeared to be melted w/ thin layer of silica/chalcedony on the surface Further inspection revealed the metallic glint How to determine if it metal ? Couple ideas is to bring a magnet Which will probably not reveal much butte Who knows? The other idea is a file. check the hardensss/streak Or/if it scrapes as a metallic substance. Perhaps it glob of frozen feldspar/ mica ? Maybe silver Any other idea… mostly

Other. We really don't have room and aren't entertaining, so I plan to do something with our Joshua tree and battery powered lights. Hey Lee That is an excellent idea! It motivated me to pull out my Mom's 10 year old solar light jangle I really dug this gizmo Altho I think its sol is fizzling Like so many other bright lights,,,m stly Don’t have an available Joshua about That would make a good Christmas Tree ! Just a milkweed in this desert ha Couple tries Sorry this isn’t very Christmassay...

Hi Guys High graded the Zoo rock To a park bench for closer inspection I’m pretty stokEd Even if the macro is lousy Not pyrite- not gold My analysis is its Arizona Copper
In a very weathered quartz Chryscholla
That thin seam has spots of the reddish copper Its very cool in mohs estimation So the rock remains stashed in its original spot Perhaps I’ll get the Zoo to put a Copper name plate on Mohs Rock Its incredible butte the PhoenixZoo Is fabulous about remembering folks With Hollywood type star name plates bricks & such Everywhere! tanks for viewing and commenting mohs

The researchers classified El Ali as an Iron IAB complex meteorite, a type made of meteoric iron flecked with tiny chunks of silicates. While investigating the meteorite slice, details of the new minerals caught the scientists' attention. By comparing the minerals with versions of them that had been previously synthesized in a lab, they were able to rapidly identify them as newly recorded in nature. just so don't get lost in shuffle to quick

ASU guys I'm stoked cause I examined my Zoo glint rock up close Its not pyrite and its not gold my analysis is its Arixona Copper which is really cool and a unique find altho I'm disappointed that all the macro photo's came out lousy that alright the rock is stashed and I can try again anyway the origins of the rock brings up interesting questions,,
