A rock to ponder I found this in the Salt River It was buried. That pale green face was showing Interesting. So I dug it out with my trusty crow The I hit with me hammer. Just a few whacks and it cracked clean and flat faced That surface green is throughout the whole rock It good size rock Not very dense The rind on the rock is a smooth basalt gray. If I kept breaking or slabbing the rock The green mineral would stay consistent No reaction to acid Although that mineral (whatever it is) isn’t the main constituent of the rock It only seems to be a surface phenomena as you can see in the picture on the edge of the break the gray is predominant Anyway I really interested how this rock forms? Ingenuous or sedimentary? Or a combination ? And what the green mineral may be? Any ideas suggestions ideas thoughts ? Tanks \Ed

here is some schiller on Pennsylvania moonstone orthoclase feldspar ? microcline ? the feldspar group is chemically complicated geological process sure do like the gleam in the desert rocks lot of that may be mica and chlorite which may not be part of the feldspar group

just little paraffin Patty mixed in with the old dop wax really makes a big difference in the clean out i think or maybe some WD 40 ? well... don't want to get to crazy only tried it once tho at the end of my rock days my dop station was a real shallow type not a deep well enjoyed dopping although I did;t do it very often enough the hearts were double domed shined so had to dop both sides ... plus it was encouraging to hear about the copper handle idea and that most of the old dop wax gave a little slippery loosener and you may of had a clean break of course the slippery loosener may have just caused the copper handle to pull out of the old dox wax might have to scruff up that end of the handle science !! and all we want to do is grind a rock ....
