Looks like you did a good job on those.
I dopped opal with wax one time....ever since I use super glue and baking soda to accelerate the bonding. To undop I put them in a jar with a little acetone....it has never hurt any that I have cut.
I just returned from the largest opal show in the USA. The American Opal Society puts it on every year. I picked up about 20 pounds of Mexican Opal Rough. I buy it in the matrix because for me there is nothing better than slicing a piece off to get an opal off the outside and finding a better gem hidden inside!!
Gotta love them opals!!!!!

This one is going to Australia. Thank you everyone for your encouragement.
I cut from the very same rough that I sell from. I cut everyday except Saturday...for the most part...sometimes I dig...when I pick one out to cut I just reach into my sack of rough and pick on out at random and cut that one.
The only time I search my rough is when a customer or one of you all has a specific size/color request.
When I make up my parcels I sort them dry by size. I will put a mix of sizes in my parcels. I don't get a good look at the colors unlit I wet them to photograph.
Tony, Stuff like that happens to me sometimes to. I had a big one break in half...I think is was last month....really broke my heart. Sometimes if the color is really good I will just drill out the bad spot and put a faceted stone in it. Peridot works well with fire agate.

The American Opal Society is hosting the largest opal show in the United States this weekend in Anaheim. Great seminars to learn from and lots of over the top opals. Better bring a FAT wallet if you go!!! Here is the link opalsociety.org/Opal_Show_2012/opal_show_current.htmIt is always nice to look and you can still find good deals if you look hard enough!
