Biker Gang Steals 30 Tons of Gold Ore
"Western Australian police say they have busted a backyard gold refinery in Kalgoorlie, seizing more than 30 tonnes of gold-bearing ore that was allegedly stolen from the region’s mines.
Investigators believe the alleged racket was connected with outlaw motorcycle gangs, and the gold-bearing ore was stolen with the intention of refining and laundering the gold to gain cash to purchase illicit drugs that would be sold to the community."

I clicked on this and what a fine and pleasant rabbit hole it turned out to be! Thanks Rick. It sure is a rabbit hole Randy. Click on the "Mine Photos by State" section. Plenty of vintage photos of mines in Utah that you and 1dave will like. www.miningartifacts.org/Utah-Mines.html

First points of the year. Knapped from some North Carolina milky white quartz I picked up a few years ago. It is hard to find a piece that doesn't have those dreaded cracks. I had a third attempt break in half right on a crack line while I was thinning it down. I knew it would happen and sure enough it broke. Point styles - in the Southeastern US we call these Yadkin style points.

Austin, Tx. hit a low for yesterday of 15 which was the record for this day. The oranges and other plants around(outside) the house are toast but so far the heated garage that is filled with potted plants is a nice 70 with two space heaters and multiple lights. The garage has many large potted Asian-semitropical plants that I am taking care of for one month while my neighbors are visiting relatives 8800 miles away in a nice warm climate. Our house-zone 8- is also filled with plants from the deck and creates a house interior that looks like an arboretum with very colorful leaves and shapes/patterns. Cold outside but warm inside as long as the gas and electric work. Victor, do you bring in any lizards/critters indoors with the plants? I bring the snake plants in every year during the winter and every now and then a lean brown lizard will show up around the planters.

You are very organized and have a great display for your collection. This was my temporary display back in 2008 - the end table next to the couch and in front of the TV. A perfect location.

It looks like shell to me. Perhaps a ridge/knob broken off from a whelk shell. I've found similar before and they can get pretty big.
