Still no stunning examples, but the improvement is still amazing. Hopefully you hit the jackpot soon!

Also sorry to hear that Rob. You work hard and put out fabulous content and it’s not right to have it swiped like that. There are some settings you can check on your Instagram page where you can change it so no one can copy, repost, or use your content. I would start there. Thanks. I post on Instagram the least. I finally got one TikTok account shut down, so I'm making some progress.

This is fun. It’s instant gratification where you do all the work and we just get to see the results. Nothing as good as the one in my video yet, but there’s still hope!
Did you go down that beach as far as the first house? I think that’s where the best ones are although I’ve only been there a couple times.

There was a big storm in Marquette a few years back. This video does a fairly good job at showing just how big the rocks in this area are, but it doesn't show the width of those rocks. If you have ever been to the Black Rocks in Marquette, this will be even more impressive.

It occurred to me while watching the last two videos, all of you out in pretty chilly and windy weather and watching the tide lap up on the shore…. I’m not sure if you realize.. that’s NOT normal for a lake! As in, the rest of us that have just normal sized lakes all around us, there isn’t any tide on them! The ocean beaches are all that have a tide and the lake edges are mostly just calm except for the possibility of wakes from boats. I imagine you’ve both traveled plenty at this point in life but it does strike me as probably an interesting perspective. If you grew up near the Great Lakes, and knew the tides, then finally at some point traveled to the ocean, and again saw the tides, then went to a smaller lake and… no tides. Maybe that was odd. Maybe it was odd for the ocean to seem just like a lake to you. Myself, I’ve never seen a lake with a tide.🤓 There are no noticeable tides on the Great Lakes. There are some big waves, but not tides. The waterline is in about the same place all throughout the day. There is a fluctuation in the lake levels over years. About three years ago, the lake levels were very high to the point that some people were loosing their property and even their houses due to erosion. Right now, the lake levels are lower.

Really cool. Ya that 2nd one is really nice and the polish made the patterns really pop. They look neat though even just rough. Makes me wonder if it’d be possible to polish them somehow and yet keep the craters. It looks like the surface of the moon. I wonder if sandblasting with various grits of sand could keep the craters and also develop a polish. That sounds like a future video for Rob to do. I did bring a larger pink one home and slabbed it. It didn't make the video because it was complete garbage inside. Here's the part I decided not to slab. You can see some of the pink color. Yea, have to agree that one isn't good. I think that the number and quality of Petoskey Stones we found that day is the worst that I have found in those areas in the last five years that I have been looking for them. I have to believe the low water and no ice for the last two winters just hasn't stirred them up and depositied them on the shore. I have some ugly ones that I will post later that I collected from your secret spot. Will see if any of them turn out or not. Regarding the pink ones, I have found some of those in the past in the area you went to between the super market and the State Park. Hopefully you got lucky and found a few good ones at that spot I told you about.

Looks like a nice day to just be out on the water looking for cool rocks. I would think the larger ones, like the one that broke, would be fun to slab and cab. I look forward to seeing what all you found Chris and what you do with them. I’m hoping🤞there’s a slab coming from a coral or Petoskey. And Rob, Jugglerguy your KN is sooo clean!🤣🤣 I’d like my work area to be so nice but it seems by the time I’m done stealing an hour to cab, it’s too late and I’m too tired to clean up my toys. Luckily, mine doesn’t have to be ready for a photo-shoot at a moments notice.🤓 I do really like how you insert your polishing video in with the rockhounding video, it’s more fun to watch that way than all grouped together at the end. Edit: I hadn’t even seen jasoninsd ‘s comment yet when I mentioned that ☝️ so I guess that’s multiple thumbs ups for the polishing video inserts.👍👍👍 I keep it clean for the videos, but also because I just want to take care of it. What you don't see in my videos is the very cluttered other side of the room. It's good that I can control what the camera sees!

That video is flat out awesome Chris!! I saw this earlier...but had to wait until American Idol was over to watch this with sound! I noticed Jugglerguy mentioned "stripey rocks" a third of the way through the video (and several more times!) Nothing beat the stripey rock at the 18:42 mark! Rob, I love the way you "clip" over to working the stones during the video rather than leaving it all to the end. You do this very well! You guys both did fantastic in this video! It brought back some good memories of when Rob was over this way! I aways mention stripy rocks. I have some sort of obsession with them, I think! I get a lot of positive comments about the little polishing clips throughout my beach videos. I can't always do that, but Petoskey Stones are so soft and quick to polish that I can almost always find time to do that when I find some of them. It's worth the extra effort, I think.

Hey Chris, thanks for posting this. Your face and voice are fine. I don't like hearing myself either. I always get annoyed when Nancy plays my videos when I'm in the room!
I really enjoyed the day with you. I don't think I told you that I went out behind the supermarket and hunted well into the state park after I left you. I found five or six small Petoskey Stones. After that, I had had enough and headed home. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with some of your finds.

Thanks. It has over a million views on TikTok where it was also posted. I reported that a couple days ago, but so far nothing has been done. What a pain. Thanks again for letting me know.

I don't know what it is, Bob, but I really like that multicolored one from Lake Superior. I haven't found one like that. Very unusual. When I found it, I was pretty excited being able to tell immediately in the rough that it was unusual and had an amazing pattern and might tumble well. So I tuned my search radar hard to try to find more--you know how that is after you have found one of something--but alas to no luck. It had to be cut in half and trimmed a lot and I think the other half might still be in processing. Came from middle N of the Canadian side. Will be there again in a few weeks and maybe will find some more. Good luck. Bring back as much of that as you can!

Wow, that's a lot of beautiful rocks, Bob. What is the green group just after the tiger eye? I'm also wondering what the iridescent green rock is all by itself in the upper right of the picture three past the previously mentioned group of green rocks. It's above two pieces of rutilated quartz. Rob, those sea green ones are prehnite, one of my fav rocks. I've been buying some off and on for several years and finally learning how to spot the higher quality pieces. I got some really good stuff at Quartzsite in Jan. This material has a strange, radiating, fibrous internal structure. The other one is a piece of glass that accidentally got in with all this other stuff. Odd that it came out pretty good. I started to make up some story about finding an emerald in Colombia or something like that. I keep trying to find decent prehnite in the U.P. but I haven't found anything even close to yours.

Thanks for the clarification Rob and thanks for making the video. It's been a long time since I watched it so I needed the update. So now I'm wondering if a slower speed with the smooth barrel would be a disadvantage? Would the load tend to slide rather than roll & tumble? Thinking that even rock size & shape might have an effect on that. But right now it's running right and doing the job for which I purchased it. Most of my Lortone barrels are smooth and round, but they all seem to do a good job of making the rocks smaller.
