I don't have any new adjectives to describe how great the first bunch of rocks is. The rock I find most interesting is the last one. That is a very UnChuckLike way of finishing a rock. You've left that pet wood sort of natural. I like my rocks as close to perfect as possible, and for that reason, pet wood frustrates me. I see that you've gone with the flow and left it the way it wants to be. I think that was a good choice, but the stuff still frustrates me.

The twins across the road and I built the snowman, so three. If you watch closely, the neighbor’s car was taken away on a truck. Is that called a tow truck if the car goes on top?

My eyes are drawn to the text not being vertically centered in the image. Is that too picky? Not meaning to be. ETA: I'm not a graphics person, so I don't know if there's a rule of thumb for something like this. It was a mild distraction for me. Heck, maybe it's just me. As you may have noticed, I'm not a graphics person either. I thought it looked good off center. Do you know the rule of thirds thing from photography? I took a photography class years ago and the teacher told us that too many people take pictures like a deer hunter. They put the subject in the dead center of the photo like you center your target in a gun scope. Photos look better when the subject is about a third of the way in from the left or the right. That rule may not apply here, but I like the title of center vertically. You can't put it off center horizontally because that same picture has to work on many different size devices. Google provides a template that shows how much of the image will be visible on a TV, phone, or computer.

Just saw these snowman threads today. Thanks for the smiles they brought! Bob! Seeing you post brought a huge smile to my face! Snowmen hate Florida.

Here it is without the Petoskey's lightened at all.

I agree with Tela. Just like putting up the Christmas tree, isn't it? Hopefully I don't have to take this down in three weeks.

Ok, This is 80%. The last two were 60% and 46%. It's hard to see the Petoskey stone in the words now, but the words are very clear. I can adjust again if necessary. I want to get this right.

I like the petoskies, but can you make the words a little darker? Gee, you're kind of demanding. Just kidding, I'm loving the help. This is 14 darker. I can go more.

Hi Rob, I'm a little late to this one, but I agree with Tela. I like the first one, too, but I think I would like it better if the transparency on the picture was lowered. Still transparent, but not as much so you could see the picture a bit better and then the printing either not transparent at all -- maybe a dark grey so it stands out but also blends in.
Like this?

Shoot. It took me about three hours to find the right tutorial to help me do the first two. The third one is what I had up already. I’m glad I asked for opinions, because my intuition was way off. Thanks again everyone.

Maybe there's a tutorial on the Michigan Rocks channel I can check out, but how in the hell do you get that heavy head up on top of your giant snowman!? Great work, though. Who would have thought that Northerners would have cornered the market on the Awesome Snowman? You guys must have missed the earlier thread from when this was built. There is a YouTube video, it's just unlisted

I just changed it to "Michigan Rocks". Thanks for the help, everyone. Do you know how long it will take to show up in You Tube search results? I just searched for "Michigan Rocks" (no quotes), and your channel did not populate in the results. Interestingly, a search for your old channel name (jugglerguy1) brings your channel right up under that old name. I have no idea. I have noticed very irregular results in statistics from YouTube. For example, if I pull up my channel on YouTube and look at the number of views for a video I get one result, but if I look under analytics, I’ll get an older or newer number, and the YouTube Studio app on my iPad might be different than those. So some parts of YouTube update at different times. I would expect my new name to come up in search results within a day or two.

oooh, you gotta give him some shark teeth! Or those push-in teeth you use for jack o'lanterns! Scale might be a problem with that idea. Did you see my original post showing how big this thing is? I'm 6'2" for scale.

There are some pretty good Youtube videos on how to select a name and will identify things to consider. Basic info such as - no numbers or special characters, pick something that people can spell, find something that is available on multiple platforms - there are websites to help with the latter. Once you pick a name, go grab that same name on the free sites (eg. Minds, Facebook, gmail, etc) or someone else will do it (to you). So if "michigan rocks" is taken, don't be tempted to make it mich4rocks as every time you get asked about your channel you will be spelling mich and explaining 4 is not for, four, phor, etc. Instead, MIrock would be a better alternative, but not perfect because you will end up saying "myrock" or some such problematic thing. It 'taint easy... The good news is you can change your name later with Youtube if you no longer like what you have... Thanks Greig. I watched a video saying the same things. I don't plan to do much on other sites, such as Twitter, but it doesn't hurt to have the name if I change my mind.

I think I'm going to go with just "Michigan Rocks". Juggling will not be part of my channel going forward. Michigan Rocks is simple and to the point. Dave made a good argument about search too.
Thanks everyone!
