I hear they have a leakage problem but that is from people that use them for counters. I, like Jim, use them all the way from 50-3000 and am impressed with what they can do including not making flat spots as bad. Only drawback for me so far is the roughness; if you have a temperamental stone it could end up fracturing or crumbling.

Thanks all; the river provides such a variety but I finally honed in on the main; so far, rock, that is the one that looks like vistaite; nope that's not it. There is enough pcs. of the others; and they're all mohs 6+, that it is really interesting picking. Not too many weeks left though till the water gets hard and the fluffy white stuff puts an end to picking till next year when the water goes down again; hope I can remember:<)

what a great variety from one area; hope you do find the source but you could be right about the transport. Especially if you're finding it over such a large area. Good luck on the hunt Lloyd

great haul; at least you'll have some of your own to work on as you recuperate. All the best for the surgery; my partner just got her knee done and man is she cranky!!! I feel like giving her a rock upside the head; just kidding!!!! I think I'm getting cranky too from being a gopher.
