The really shameful part of this is that each one had to pay 99.95 for that gun safety class. Let's make sure they get their money back.

I read about that.... they are putting them on an island very close to human populations and recreational areas ... a short swim away and they do swim. Nothing could go wrong there. I would definitely be concerned. According to the article, many people were initially concerned but now aren't. Let me put your thoughts in a different perspective. ... Massachusetts has no problems with rattlesnakes, except they disappeared. My thoughts are this introduction wont work. Must start with babies. Disturbing adults and moving them to unknown areas, is a recipe for failure. To make it work, they would need a lots (100 is a good start) of babies to release, every year, for ten years. After 3-5 years they may find specimens large enough to radio tag and track. This will then teach them if the new population can be self sustaining. This is a 30 year project. I believe the number is 150. I don't remember if it is adults or juveniles. Charlie

Just to make thing fairer for venomous snakes, we are introducing Timber rattllesnakes into the wild here in Mass.
They are a native specious that have suffered decline in numbers over the years ( Gee, I wonder why everyone doesn't love a snake?)

Not a lot of snow here on Massachusetts so far this year.
We did get a foot of heavy wet stuff on the weekend storm that crushed DC to NYC and Long Island, but it is mostly gone already. Last year we got storm after storm and cold in single digits with it. We are in the 40s with 50 expected for Sunday. The ski resorts are bitching for business!
Probably jinxed us for February! Hail El Nino ( and no La Nina next year please)

I was able to find something suitable in my slabs and made a few.
I'm going to my cousin Marylin's Little Christmas today and will replace her cab with that material.
I need more rough for a few new cuffs I'm working on.

That didn't work out like we planned.
Anyone else have some blue material that complements a copper cuff?

KD you have been a member longer than me...I think you were from NY State... what happened to Stefan? James you are amazing...cant believe you are just over three yrs... its funny how neccessity is the mother of all inventions. Fossilman...hope your rock pile grows and prospers. Lee...You are a rock on RTH.
I had bought my wife a Lortone 3# double tumbler as a gift and it sat idle for a year or so and I was determined not to waste the (close to a) hundred dollars I had spent on tumblers, grit, and rocks. So I started using it myself and got hooked. Bought some rocks from Pho and Banjo and wanted to get my own. Looked into William Holland School and found my wife( rock Carving, Stained Glass) and I (cabuchons, Opals, silver) could go on Crafty Vacations without spending a fortune...and of course, when you go to National Parks in SD, washington, oregon, wyoming, montana, arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado, rock hounding is always available..

I just noticed I have been on RTH for over ten years!
There are only 15 or so (active) members who have been registered this long. Unfortunately that means I'm closer to the end of the line. Tumbling was an accidental hobby for me that has spawned rock hounding, cabuchon making, rock cutting, shell polishing, glass polishing, silver smithing and jewelry making.
It really had a huge effect on vacations. I always wanted to go to places that afforded opportunities to collect rough. My wife and I started taking craft class vacations too. All in all its been enjoyable

One of my customers tried to tighten a copper cuff prong that was a little loose and cracked the cabuchon within. I dont have any more of this material. Does anyone have some for sale? Thanks Charlie The cab is shown below against white and green background and is 30x40

*L* Charlie, I've been married almost 48 years and she has assured me she is "always" correct! Just saying...to make it fair...Husbands need to have a universal code of conduct like the women!
