Looks like a good trip. Nice rocks, looks like a cool area. Or hot. Whatever.
Thanks for the pics.

Ain't dumb unless you have another heart attack. Good to see that you are out cruising the landscape again. Great pics too. Seems like an uptick there. Have you been practicing on the closeups? The solid blue is super. That is the same as the first rock I found when we went to the lake only this is a really good one. I have picked up a lot of it and have only found a couple of little tumble pieces that were any good. Where did you say that was again? lol The last rock pic is a superb example of the local moss or whatever you would call it. I threw away a cab of that stuff yesterday because it had a fracture that could not be dealt with. As far as fractures go it is better than the blue stuff but still can be hard to find a piece as good as that one. Great report Russ Jim We'll try to avoid the whole heart attack thing. Doctors say I'm doing pretty good now and to go ahead and do what I want-within reason. That blue is as good a piece of that as I've collected. There's more of it. That little mossy rock is pretty nice. I've found that stuff before but this is the first pic I've gotten to come out half decent. As far as the pictures getting better, I've been trying different things and a big part has been to just take lots of pictures and delete all but the one or two that come out okay. I'm getting around quite a lot better now, we'll need to get out and get some rocks again. Russ

Great report, thanks for posting. We stopped by there a few years ago but didn't really know quite where to go and didn't have nearly enough time. Returning is on the to-do list. Thanks again.

Well, the weather was pretty nice yesterday so we went out wandering around again, this time to a new spot we had visited a few weeks or so ago. That day we just grabbed a couple handfuls of rocks to see if they were worth bothering with. Decided some of that material was worth further investigation. Once we got to the site I knew that the rocks I was looking for were up the draw to the right, so I went left to see what was there since I hadn't been up that way before. Spent quite a while just walking around. Found some different stuff that I really wasn't expecting there. Did wind up with a few of the rocks I initially was after but still haven't taken any pictures of that material. Need to do a little slabbing and grinding yet. At any rate, here are a few pictures just for the heck of it. Sandstone cliffs, not a great pic but if you look close you can see some cross bedding. The rocks I was after are right up this draw here. Took quite a few pictures of rocks in situ but this is the only one that didn't come out looking like dog crap. I may be getting just a little smarter (we can always hope). The little handtruck isn't the greatest but it actually worked okay. Filled the tubes with Slime and dodge the prickly pears as best I can. The pickup is visible just to the right of the low hill. Since my rock pictures in the field didn't work out too well I took a few after we got home. This blue stuff is fairly common and we find quite a lot of it. Most of it is really plain and blah, but nearly all of it that we find is so fractured that it's not even fit for tumbling. Found some in this spot that seems pretty solid so I grabbed a few chunks to play with. Some of the other stuff. When we were initially looking around we noticed that the hill near the pickup had been used as an informal little shooting range. Cyndi started picking up bullets while I was messing around with rocks. I'd say she did pretty well, her mining yielded just over 10 pounds of lead. I'll melt it down and make it into new bullets. Well I expect you all are going to get tired of my little reports if I don't stop. Thanks for looking. Russ

Way to go Russ and Cyndi. That outcrop is the same as the stuff I named wampidy sunrise. What are you going to name yours? lol Jim Sounds like it has a name. Have to take you up there to see, kind of an interesting area. From the Wyoming side it's really not that far. Russ

Nice job on your first batch. I'd probably just throw those bots in with the next bunch of 600 I was running and then go on from there, but that's just me and I'm usually wrong.
