Hi, if things don't work out I live in Hercules and can help out - it's about 10 minutes from Berkeley, where I grew up. Also, tell your friend to joins the Vallejo Gem and mineral Society. It's worth the small annual fee and bridge toll, the have all the equipment for lapidary available for all members. Let me know if your friend wants to talk rocks!

I hate when my mask gets foggy and sweat drips in my eyes, that sounds miserable! I am with you on the pain of polishing, sometimes it takes me days to get it flawless, and it seems to loose some of the excitement in the process. I am too chicken to risk fractures from tumbling though, I am too inexperienced in both cabbing and tumbling, so I guess I'll just have to wipe the sweat from my eyes and keep at it - I can't seem to stop anyways. I wish you'd post more of your cabs, you have such nice material...What's the name of your shop?

Wow, the samples in this post are so defined, crazy cellulose structure and the banding, zoiks!

Aw Tommy, that is some beautiful material you got there...The cabbing eye gets rolling on the first slab, by the last I am so dizzy, I fell off my couch! You have so much of that scrumptious material, it would be a crime to keep it all to yourself!

This is an awesome example of how a rockhound can find spectacular rocks, anywhere. I really love the history behind the finds, the rough and the final product! Thanks for sharing!

That makes them all the more special . Not to get off the topic, but do you have any good ideas for me on rockhounding in New Mexico? I fear the fact that you mentioned, the book factor. I tried to post in the trips section for advise, but I didn't get any help there. Have you ever hounded in NM or Arizona? I am thankful for any input!!!

Even though you got few pieces, I am certain that the experience of seeing the country and being able to hound there is truly priceless. Those pieces will entomb your memories there and may become your favorites
