Outstanding batch Kelly. The shine you achieved is spectacular. Bots and flint are both really satisfying to tumble. Thanks for sharing your work.

bryan22Welcome from Idaho. Tumbling is definitely an exercise in patience but the results can be amazing. Hang in there. You’ll be completely hooked in no time.

Incredible cabs. The rhodo heart is so cool. What is the material in the 9th picture? It looks like very high end OJ.
Thanks for sharing. Very impressive work.

Those are all beauties. I’m really impressed. I have to say, that final picture of the vein agates really made me drool. Thanks for sharing your work. They all look amazing.

chaosdsm The best thing about SiC is that it’s fast. Also, when it breaks down, it breaks into sharp pieces. Most other grits will round off and become less effective pretty fast.

I was gonna say the bots were my favorites, but as I scrolled, I knew I couldn't choose. You always tumble the best stuff! Thanks Tela. I try to watch for good deals on nice rough. A little prep work helps speed things up and hopefully maximizes the finish a little.

I’ve tumbled some Idaho garnets but rotary rumbling only. It sounds like you are on the right track. Like Larry said, you don’t need plastic until polish.

An awful lot of them are hollow or soft inside. I don’t think I would cut mini-slabs. Instead, I would either tumble them whole or saw the exterior off and tumble those pieces. Some of the best ones have very clear agate around a blob of fortifications. The blob in the middle looks cool and if it hits the surface, the fortifications show in some pretty nice colors. Here is a nice whole nodule.

Great looking! In the second pic, the rock to the right of the top one, is that a greenish color? I see it as gray. The photo does look kind of greenish. Love them all! These Alimajo Agates are so pleasant to look at... Thanks, They’re pretty interesting aren’t they? I wish I had them all back. I would treat them differently.

Larimar is a type of pectolite. That piece looks hard. That chrysoprase is really going to glow. That is definitely some high grade OJ.

What a fantastic set of preforms. I’m looking forward to seeing them finished. Lots of killer lace in there but I really like the 3 OJs, the chrysoprase and the Larimar.
Thanks for showing.

I finished up a 3 lb barrel today. This is batch four this year. It’s an average polish but the rocks are pretty nice. The towel shot. Bots Swali, Swazi, Mozambique Alimajo agates glass cutter pieces. Some of these are pretty delicate. It’s amazing they make it through the rotary. odd balls and smalls, spalls, chips My favorites. I love tumbling! Thanks for looking.

That looks like some high quality wood. The shaping and polish look fantastic. Did you do any trimming or splitting prior to tumbling? I really like the variety.
Thanks for sharing your work.
