Automatic dish washing soap has plenty of "de-foamers" and "surfectants" (helps keep stuff in suspension..ie.."in mud") built in and it's borax based. It *won't* get rid of all the gas pressure inside the barrel if the gas is coming from inside the stones...burping the barrel will. As few barrels as I have tumbled...I have had to babysit 2 barrels full. One brought the need to watch closer by puking everything! all over the tumbler (my Thumler of course) and lodging a couple of stones under the drive pulley..and locking the rig up good! ..well bad anyway. But the motor and all is fine once I cleaned everything up. I think some types of rocks are spoiled just want more attention. :/

Got to your local hardware or home center to get wire (cord!!).. Either a piece of #16 or #14 SO or SJ cord (and it may have other letters after the SO or SJ) and it's weather and water "resistant" with a tough! outer jacket ... 3 conductors in a cord. Cheaper then Radio Shack. And will be far more "legal" then individual wires.

Well....there "might" be one other person to have the same problem. The one who was given your year tag number. But more then likely the state will deny all responsibility cuz we all know it could not possibly be any state's fault.

Yep...awful nice of the state to eventually correct their mistakes isn't it?

RockIt2Me ..I live right at the edge of the start of the hills, ...mostly sandstone and shale hillz close by ..about 41 airline miles north of Little Rock. Close to Guy, Ar. And 20 miles SW of Heber Springs. Out in the sticks! My oldest son lives in NW Ark.. up by Bella Vista... just a stones throw from Missouri line. I'm going to go visit up there in a week er so...weather permitting! I need to see what kinda rocks they have to offer up there. I like this forum...seems to be a lot of good folks hanging out here.

Just checked polish barrel with the "wine cork" padding/fill. Most are about 3/4 the way between shiny satin and shiny polished finish. Nother 4-5 days maybe. Corks soaked up a bit of the water...added 2-3 tbsp.

New member here.. name is Steve. I have been hanging around for a few weeks reading and learning. Finally decided to register and not be a ghost. I am just getting into this rock hunting/cutting/tumbling thing. So when....probably not "if".. I mess up... just pat me on the head with a good sized chunk of Quartz er sumthin. Better take the evidence though or I will cut an polish it! I have 4 tumblers going right now.. 2 in coarse grit...one medium grit...and one in final polish. Assorted stone mix from Madagascar...with a lot of fills from a couple of local rivers of mainly Quartz/Chert types a couple of what I "think" is petrified wood. Have a 7" Husky wet saw (loud!) and have made a few cuts. Still have all of my fingers and dirty fingernails (grit/slurry is nasty...why ya'll not tell me? lol) so I must be doing the safety part semi-right. o.O Final polish 3 pd barrel is tumbling with ...ummmm...here comes that Quartz rock I figure!.... polish and about 5 or 6 cut into 1/2" slices...used wine corks. IF this works and I ain't got a headache! I might have found another craft use for my.. ummm ...collection of assorted rubberish or natural corks.. lol Anyway... howdy y'all.
