Other people's saw scrap#!! It's lots of shapes and chunks. Plus you don't know what you put in the tumbler! At clean out I am amazed at the way the grinding brought out shapes and colors that were not evident at the begginning!!! Great answer, Orrum!

I think everyone has already said how awesome the tumbles are. I want to say that I really like the background change!

I seem to keep throwing all kinds of jasper in my barrels. But I say "buy them all". Throw them in the barrel and see what happens. It's what makes this hobby so much fun.

Well, I don't know what half this stuff is, but it's all beautiful. I'll bust some of the stuff up to tumble and set a few pieces aside for when I find a slab saw. Thank you for the quick shipping!!

Just wanted to share something I won from the last Beaver Bay auction. This was listed as "A unique 2 lb 5 oz face polished Brazilian Agate half with some crazy patterns in clear see through quartz". Whatever it is, I think it's beautiful.

So my statement should read "I'm with Chuck"!

My reply would mimic Chuck's since I got my steps from one of his posts somewhere (I think). Rotary cleaned out each week and "ready" rocks pulled. My only difference is I do give the rocks a quick rinse between grits in the Lot-O.

When you say "4 grit cycles" over 48 hours are you adding additional grit every 12 hours? And how much 120/220 is being added each time? I have been adding 2 tablespoons and just letting that run for 48 hours with no additions. Curious to hear some more details.
And great batch! Really liking 12, 20 & 21.

I really like that the cameras on cell phones now are quite good. I wish I had some control over aperture so I could setup my depth of field correctly. This phone has a very narrow band of "in focus" when close to your subject. I'm sure there's an app somewhere I just need to do some digging. I had a full blown DSLR setup not that long ago, but got tired of lugging it around everywhere. For 99% of the pictures I take, the phone works just fine. I could probably mess around with the lighting a bit more, but the 4-lamp overhead fixture does a decent enough job. I still wish I had my light cube setup!
And thank you for taking the time to reply. I can't wait for my next few batches to see how everything progresses!

I'd be interested in buying some also if you're looking to go that route!

I really love chrysocolla. I keep wanting to buy some, but am currently only setup for tumbles. Although, I do have a flat lap now. Hmmm... Thank you for showing us these pictures.

Well, this is the last of my "starter" rocks purchased from the Rock Shed. Well, I still have plenty left, but the barrels are full of stuff I've been buying from board members (agates, jasper, pet wood, etc). Lots of blue quartz and jasper in this batch. I tried a couple of single rock pictures this time to see how the iPhone does. Thanks again to everyone for all the knowledge shared! The lot... Top half in a bit more detail... Bottom half... Some jasper Unakite Bahia agate? Citrine

This is a great project and I'm sure it's something they will remember doing many years from now. It was always the teachers that went beyond teaching out of the book that I remember most.

This should be the first thing everyone gets told when attempting to tumble rocks! It really makes all the difference in your enjoyment of this hobby.

That is what a workshop should look like. I have no idea how people can handle a place where everything is just thrown in a random, open spot. Good work!

I've been wondering if it's worth the time also. I've been on an agate and jasper buying spree these past couple weeks so it's not like I don't have enough material already. Still might purchase some of these rocks and keep one of my four barrels running with it. I guess we'll see what happens. Thanks for the thoughts/suggestions!

I'm trying my best to hold off and let someone else have a shot at these, but I ain't gonna wait forever. You know you want them. These are from my box that arrived today!
