First off I sadly don't own a Lot-O ๐ญ. I'm wondering how the motor bearings hold up when the weighted fans are on the dual shafts. I've read the weights must be aligned the same so does this counteract vibration damage to the bearings? Also wondering how vibration is transferred, pictures would be much appreciated. Thanks
Hey no worries & no need to apologize, it was my decision to try SiC30. You just reported what your results were and what has/hasn't worked for you. Never once did you state "Hey guys you HAVE got to try this". Hasn't worked good for me because the grit was the only ingredient I followed for your recipe. No big boy rocks/barrels or 60 RPM. My fault !!!
I for one look forward to reading your posts but I must admit I'm struggling to control my envy/jealousy of that @:"-? Texas trip with all those -@?#?ยฅ beautiful rocks.......
Is that why you've named it the forever tumbler? Cause it will take forever to build? I'm anxious to see this beast.
Yes.
It's like Mike's. Double decker. Built into what is essentially an aquarium stand.
Forever, because these things are so overbuilt and all parts are off the shelf. Easily repaired in the unlikely event of failure. Like Chuck's. Nothing new. Well, except a couple things...
Can't wait to see it. I used a HF cart for the base of mine, may have to lose the wheels for more stability.
huskeric, I'm in East Tenn so we can get some pretty cold temps. The tumbler is in an area where there won't be any snow or ice. Good points about slurry thickness, thanks.
captbob, The motor is just 0.2 hp. You just haaad to point out it could roll 5 x that amount of rocks...I'll have to try some salt. I was thinking about adding some alcohol to prevent freezing. I'll have to make sure it won't eat up my barrels though. Thanks
Fossilman, I frikkin hate winter and not too fond of the heat either. Give me 60-70 degrees with low humidity year round. Need to move to the Canary Islands.
