Are you putting a piece of tape on there, or line from a permanent marker so you can clearly see the rotations ?

Mine was 31 rpm when I got it 3 years ago. still sounds good so I haven't checked it since then. Is yours a 220 volt motor ?

Maybe, if I ever find time, we can go into a bit more about the anti tumbler freezing possibilities. Should be able to come up with some recipes, and maybe find a northerner willing to be a test dummy. Put the tumbler into a Picnic Cooler. The motor will keep it all warm enough in there.

Oh Goodness . . . I would be using 16 or 30 grit with that big ol' stone. Make sure that there is plenty of air space in there for good tumbling action.

Do you need a fancy word processor like that , can't you use something simple like NotePad ? And another vote for all the applications in free OpenOffice .

My barrel Lid Liners probably developed holes faster than normal because I was tumbling a lot of freshly broken theatrical lenses (pyrex) in there.

Another vote for the QT66 In three years continuous tumbling, I have . . . - Rebuilt the entire tumbler - Replaced all three lid liners The belt has shed plenty of dark powder but never needed replacing.

The QT66 runs at 30 rpm and it is about the same diameter as your new tumbler barrels.

If anyone would like a copy of the beginning rock tumbling guide I compiled, would be happy to email it to you. You should post it on the Tutorials Page

Here is a story where I used AO-80 for stages 2 and 3 without using 120/220 or 600 at all.

Look closely at the Other Rocks in the batch that did not polish. Check for sharp cracks, broken and Sandy rocks. Those will be the ones that are scrubbing the polish off of the good rocks in the batch.
