Gary, that Magneprase is stunning! Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or is that more of an egg shape versus true oval? To me, that Owyhee looks like a picture I saw in one of my books on space I had as a kid...like some amazing Nebula...
Thank you, Jason.
The magneprase is an oval, but I think that its those patterns that are causing you to question the shape. Sometimes when I get into the higher grits I start to question the symmetry or shape of a cab. Often I think it's due to strong patterns tricking the eye.
There is one spot that is not an illusion. The magnesite is softer than the chrysoprase/chalcedony, and now I see a very, very slight discontinuity of the shape just to the left of the top.

1. Magneprase — At least that's what I think it is based on the Magneprase I have and some online photos. In addition to the strong diagonal movement, I like its range of color, values and features to appreciate. (36 x 24 x 6 mm) 2. Owyhee — I am very pleased with this one. It appeared in a slab from unremarkable rough. I think it looks like some sort of fantasy or science fiction image. It was going to be rectangular but an inclusion appeared in a gap on one corner. (29 x 19 x 6 mm) 3. Willow Creek — I couldn't wait to cut this with its parallel lines that wrap around a clear quartz window. When I was finished I was concerned about the crack that winds around the window with a couple of tiny vugs. Was it on the slab's surface?? Did cutting cause it?? I can't remember now. Well, there's blurry black where the crack crosses the parallel lines, almost as if the crack caused some seepage. So I'm pretty sure that it must have been present in the slab. (39 x 31 x 6 mm)

Welcome from Washington. I don't tumble, but the tumblers here can certainly help.

My saw dose that but my belt is slipping Have not changed it yet I sure hope that's not the case- it's a sealed unit. But, I don't think it is, especially since the crimped blade runs fine.
The Ameritool is direct drive, so no belt to cause what you're experiencing. Pardon me for asking this, but is there any chance that your new blades slowed down when they hit harder areas of the slabs? Or perhaps the new blades just need some breaking-in?

I don't know, Gary, I'm thinking you could make one helluva cab with that scene. I see a tree, some lightning, and the eye. Once you get your saw fixed of course... Maybe in time for the giant cab contest...

You didn't mention that the 4" bogged down. Is it an MK 303, too? Is it new, too? The only thing that I can think of is that the depth of the sintered diamond means that the sides are rubbing against the cut. If so, extra care in feeding the slab straight on at the blade should reduce any friction.
I've thought of buying one of the smaller MK 303s for my Ameritool trim saw, so I'm interested and hoping that a solution can be found.

While slabbing last night I took an initial slice off of this Picasso Jasper and was confronted by this ominous "evil eye" staring at me. It seemed to be saying, "Stop!!" And sure enough, now the saw is out of alignment or the blade is a little wonky. "Do not seek the treasure!" keeps playing in my head.

We were about 30 miles away in Beaverton, Oregon watching spellbound by the the ash and lightning, concerned about all the people in the path of the ash as it drifted to the north and east.
