That's awesome! I bet it was gratifying to see what she created. It's a cool pendant. Its always nice when we get to see what others have done with our work, and a nice surprise, too.

I had previously posted this West Coast Picasso Jasper cab in Creating Cabochons ( Hole in One). It had this wormhole that was just begging for a pearl. I listed it on Etsy with that suggestion and ... it just sat and sat. I was getting close to pulling it, buying a pearl and making a pendant when it sold a few weeks ago. I just heard from my customer and she sent me a photo of her creation that I wanted to share (below). She added that her pendant sold almost immediately after posting it.

I hope that you're OK and healing well, greig! Cutting trees can be dangerous — even smaller ones. A few years ago, my neighbor and I were discussing which trees between our properties that we might take out. We were standing next to a tall, dead alder that was only about 8 inches in diameter at the base. So I decided to cut it down... ...and, as we watched it fall away from us, the top of it hit another tree. The alder snapped in half and the top half came right back at us. It missed my head by inches.

You have some of the most interesting designs, Bill. That silver minie ball cleaved the Bruneau in half.

Welcome from Washington. Opal is what got me into lapidary and then into making jewelry. I'd say that if you're "interested" in opal, it sounds like the hook may already be set.

I have some opal rough I bought 25 years ago from australiia. I took some relatively low grade lambina mine australian opal that I had a big piece of and cut it and set it in a heavy silver double half round wire bracelet. Couldn't figure out how to price it and so took it down to big island jewelers for appraisal. It was big, 67 carats; he said $6k or wholesale 1 to 1.5k. He liked the setting but thought it should have been set in gold. I sold it to a boeing engineer from seattle on hs honeymoon for $1800. I'm afraid to cut the little ones with the red fire because I always cut the matrix off to make a prettier cab and I'm slicing off potentially thousands doing that. When I get to cutting them I'll start a thread in the appropriate place. terry
I'm looking forward to seeing your posts, Terry.

Thanks, Ali. My source for the rough was eBay seller agatedigger-1970. S/he sells end cuts, and must have a good business elsewhere for what never makes it to eBay.

Dang, Victor! Super cabs and material, as I'm looking I think I found my favorite and then I scroll down and find another favorite. And another. And another.
Exactly my experience, too, Mike! These are outstanding, victor1941!

And here's yet another stromatolite entry. This material comes from the mountains of the Czech Republic Hungary.

Could you use a screw-on Diamond Pacific 4" canvas pad? That diameter should take care of speed concern. I have a couple of them and I no longer use them.
