The American Agate/Jasper Index for South Dakota, Nebraska and Oklahoma is out! www.4shared.com/file/221879833/810dc669/Agate_Index_Vol_1.htmlUtah and Colorado www.4shared.com/file/224404408/51585e57/Agate_Index_Vol_2.htmlWyoming and Montana www.4shared.com/file/229956030/cc07189f/Agate_Index_Vol_3.htmlIdaho and Washington www.4shared.com/file/242786005/91b2476f/Agate_Index_Vol_4.htmlSouth Dakota, Nebraska, and Oklahoma (I have to say the majority of this is South Dakota from Fairburned's photos.) We hope you enjoy the Index as much as we enjoyed putting it together. It took a little longer as people kept on supplying us with such great pictures. A great big thanks for all those who helped. For those who have material that will fill in any gaps in the above indexes, you can now email material to agateindex@yahoo.com. Mel and I will be watching for the submissions as they come in. If you have trouble downloading, please let me know. Most people have no trouble, but some have run into issues. Also, any feedback would be greatly appreciated - this resource is being done for you. Anything you like/dislike or want changed or added? And if care to share the links with your local rock club - feel free. It's what this is here for. Thank you Lowell and Mel

Castle Butte 'Chapenite' Nodules - Rough Most of these contain earth tones with some variation, but some have been broken and resealed creating a chapenite-like material. ![](http://i996.photobucket.com/albums/af89/3lementary/PICT0014-2.jpg) ![](http://i996.photobucket.com/albums/af89/3lementary/PICT0016-3.jpg) ![](http://i996.photobucket.com/albums/af89/3lementary/PICT0017-1.jpg) Green Jasper - Acton, CA ![](http://i996.photobucket.com/albums/af89/3lementary/PICT0004-3.jpg)

Commiefornia? Commiefornia? I completely and UTTERLY ah, actually agree...
I have kids at school receiving free lunches because of the amount of money their parents say they make on the school forms, a number that is not validated by any means. Many of these same parents come in with 3-5 kids in a new SUV. Some of them need the help, but our office staff, who deal with the 'entitlement' idea some people have - that if you can grab it - get it - shake their heads.
On another note - I just read that they are considering here in the California a law that would make farmer's market vendors acquire swipe machines because food stamp recipients should be able to buy 'fresher' produce than what's in the stores. And the 'stamp' recipients would no longer be receiving the 'stigma' of stamps but be receiving little 'atm' cards to use instead. I believe (don't know the details for this) the cost of the machine would be absorbed by the vendor as well as the necessity of finding a power source and data connection. I understand the need some people have for stamps but adding a burden to the farmer or small seller is ludicrous.
The amount of welfare that goes out in California is atrocious.
Signed - a teacher about to be pink-slipped due to budget shortfalls.

Hmmmm. Sandblasting - innovative! How's you come up with this? Was it extreme anger at a stone and you wanted to punish it, or were you working with the sandblaster and inspiration strike?
Interesting specimens - are these weathered loose or are you pulling them out of the a ledge or rock face?
Thanks for sharing,
Lowell

Hey - I'll buy the agates too! (I would, but Steve called dibs...)
(See what you started...)
Anyway,
Steve, regarding displaying - don't be nervous. You are gonna kick some major donkey (&ss) with your collection! Don't be shy, I tell you. You are gonna find drool marks all over your case when you go by it!
Display - I ain't got close to your collection and I display. Our show here is on March 6 and 7th. Gonna take some pictures of material for the index if allowed (Hint hint, steve, if your show is coming up...)
Truthfully. You got major agates to share with the world, and even if you just display 10 or 15 artfully placed around the case - it'll attract a lot of attention.
Please do photos of it and post!
Lowell
