Thank you hummingbirdstones , fernwood , and rockjunquie . I will pass the compliments on...He will appreciate them. Speak it did! I was so surprised...once he claims a stone it is usually weeks or months before it is made into something. Thank you everyone for checking it out!

Welcome from Arizona.
My mother had a tumbler when I was a wee little kid...fond memories much later in life inspired a fabulous hobby.

Thank you everyone!
My next question about the zoisite...
What seems like a realistic value?

The rework on the ruby in zoisite really came out nice! Sucks you dropped the one, but you did a nice save on it. Thank you. Much better than the first time around, I think. I was just happy it didn't break through the ruby!

Following rockjunquie 's suggestions I went back and reworked the zoisite. Much better...thank you! I took it into the house to show it off and it met with a ceramic tile floor. Rats! the re-cut thanks for looking

Like stonemon I have been using an 8" CabKing for about 5 years. I kneel in front of my machine so I can look directly up at the wheel and tweek the alignment of the nozzles whenever I move wheels around. A little rock snot and the nozzles won't move so easily. We added an 8" x 1/4" 220 grit carving wheel which is very narrow, but it is easy to direct the water exactly to that wheel. With a little use the hood removal gets easier. I used Diamond Pacific machines at a rock club for several months before buying the CabKing, I much prefer this water system. Others prefer the spitters...different strokes for different folks.

Good for you! We really like our drill press. We use an old 8 x 8 glass dish under the item to be drilled. I haven't seen the plastic before. Where to you get it? Thanks I'm not sure where I got mine. Rio or Amazon. You can get it all over now and the prices vary. www.amazon.com/s?k=moldable+plastic&ref=nb_sb_noss_2Thank you! Looks like interesting stuff.

The only flower rock I have is rose quartz. How boring is that? We had a couple of cores from Richardson's in Oregon. Hmmm...it would be pretty easy to turn that round shape into a flower shape using the carving wheel. Still kinda boring, so I took an existing lemon quartz oval and cut it down to a smaller size and reversed the angle of the girdle. End result using 8" cabbing machine for all work except making the recess for mounting the yellow center.
