I think the glass is just basic window glass picked up at the hardware store. I polished with 14k diamond on canvas. I think I will put just the back side on felt with cerium oxide. Thank you victor1941 and rockjunquie

Nice work! What bothers you about the glass backing? Thank you. Compared to the front side of the piece the back seems dark.

The joys of Leland Blue! It could be an entertaining display piece if cut about where your fingers are in the first picture. Continue tumbling the rest of the chunk.

Completed my third and fourth intarsia cabs today. The third one is Owyhee picture jasper framed in more Owyhee picture jasper. I didn't realize that the slab that the blueish bits came from had a brownish surface layer until I started cabbing it. Because I didn't grind through that to begin with the blue joints are dark. Know better for next time. This one is about 37 mm by 35 mm. I couldn't make up my mind which side of the centerpiece I liked best, so this one is backed with glass. Not sure that I'm happy with it. The fourth one is Pinolith framed by red jasper and howlite and backed with basenite. Its about 46 mm by 41 mm. Thanks for looking!

It would disgrace mother nature to cab the first one. Polish it and proudly display it!!!
I would choose to display the Sonora in a piece of jewelry.
Beautiful stuff!!

Thank you! Interesting stuff. No problem filling a tumbler in Texas!
I'm guessing this material is very hard? Harder than petrified wood?

Could be a chert nodule too. They all have weathered white cortex on the exterior and solid silica of various shades inside. Come in many different colors here in Texas. Thank you. I don't think I've ever seen any Texas chert. Pictures?

Rude weather this afternoon. Snowed all day and in the afternoon the wind kicked up somewhere in the 30-40 mph range and made near white-out conditions.
That looks and sounds like Wyoming!

Could it be bone? The outside sorta has that appearance even though there is no cell type structure on the interior. Hopefully someone with waaay more dino bone experience than me will chime in! Tomorrow I will see about getting a better close up so you guys can see better.

Larger detail, I hope This pic has a porcelain look to it, resembles many datolite specimens I’ve seen. Hmmm... I had to look up datolite. In my brief survey of pictures online I saw a couple of pictures with similar interior color. The description of the outside of those datolite was cauliflower. No cauliflower here. Since starting this thread I have started a cab. Hardness is 6.5 to 7. Doesn't seem like a perfect fit to me, but datolite thanks for the suggestion.

That would fit this month's contest theme very nicely!
Hint. Hint.
