It seems like I have too much time on my hands to scroll through slab offerings on the web! I pulled the trigger on a rhodochrosite slab since I’ve always thought the material was gorgeous, but having never worked it, I was hoping for some tips from those who have. . Thanks! DO IT 😄😄😄

Rhodo- one of my all time favs. Not only are they gorgeous, but I love to cut them. Think of it like working on marble. It cabs a lot like it. It's pretty soft, but not too soft like Indian Paint. I usually polish mine on diamond up to 100k. It loves to get hot and will polish like glass.
eta- I think it works best on worn wheels. A much lighter touch is required for newer wheels.
Awesome! Thanks for the tips Tela! I was wondering if I’d need a light touch. Can’t wait to see what I can do!

I had to look up "triskele" to see if was a real word. My one thing learned for today. I’m glad I could help 🤣😂🤣

I’ve been kicking the idea of these around for a while and finally got to them. The cabs are tiny. Like I have a thousand year supply of material if I don’t start making something larger! Lucin variscite and larimar.

Wow! I agree with Ed, quality over quantity. That’s a great avatar picture. I barely remember when my son was that age.

Great group of cabs! And so many, too! I would NOT have the patience for that. The charoite are a testament to your skill. I have decided never to cut anymore without backing them first. Too expensive to gamble. Thanks Tela! Working charoite is so humbling. Like I mentioned to Rick, I have no idea why I didn’t think to back it. Oh well, now I know 😊
