Did ya'll see where something like 2/3 of the people in Ohio are employed in some way by the auto industry? ??!!!!!! Can you imagine the tail spin that state would have gone through without the bail out that has turned them around? ?? Jeez Lowese 2/3 of Ohio put on food stamps and unemployment and loose their houses and the cost to the government. Ohio would have gone through a doomsday that Curt is worried about. Too many mules. So, lets all get behind the president like they used to do it and make this country great again. We have been in a much bigger hole in the past. YEA RIGHT, I CAN REALLY SEE THAT HAPPENING. Jim Ya herr Komrad!! Let us all support der Fuhrer und make Das Peoples Republic of Amerika great! We can do it! Don, this was your comment. I am obviously not the only one who took it as a racist comment. What did you mean if I (and I see Jim) read it wrong? der Fuhrer refers to ONE MAN in history. Hitler. I have had 5 years of German, but that doesn't make me a native speaker, so I used google translate to be sure that it was not a title or honorific that could refer to ANY OTHER German historically. It cannot. The translation for der Fuhrer is Hitler. You called Obama Hitler. The sarcastic German 'voice' pointed to a racism against Germans. So, I asked if you were racist against Germans. THEN pointed out the QUOTE from Der Welt, which you know if you've been to Germany, is a large German newspaper comparable to the New York Times, compares the far right to Hitler. And if you've been to Germany, you know that talking about Hitler positively in public will land you in court, fined, jailed, disliked by the majority of Germans. Germans today not only do not like Hitler, their reaction to any positive mention of Hitler is backlash, and yes, Germans today consider the far right representative of Hitler, as specified by their major newspaper. Obama is clearly not far right. Far right = fascism of the Hitler variety. If you make references you do not yourself understand, but ANY educated person WOULD understand, then you send that message of hate. Since you don't understand your own implication, I am walking it through for you for clarity. You have to dig deep to forgive ME for what YOU said?

Um... Jim, we're just arguing on the forum, and I honestly don't think anyone here is going to harm anyone else. It really is post-election disappointment. Over time, we will see what happens. NONE of us are directly responsible for what happened. And whether any of us like it or not, no one got 100% of their side voted in anyway. The House ended up Republican obstructionist AGAIN, with the same obstructionists back in office. For the Republicans, that's a victory I guess, more fiscal fighting. But I think Bill's right, you should remove your address. NOT because anyone who wanted to look couldn't find it, because they can. But because there's robots that crawl forums for emails and addresses to dump spam on you!! Much has been said about "Republican obstructionists". Except for myself and maybe 1 or 2 others, I've seen nothing said about the obstructionist on the other side of the line. I'm talking about Harry Reid. How many bills have left the house for the senate, only to be blocked by Harry Reid ? Obstructed if you will. Blocked and never allowed to come to a vote of the senate. Yes, there are obstructionists, but they're on both sides of the line. The difference is that one of them gets his orders directly from Obama. There have been grumblings on the left about dumping Harry Reid as their majority leader. I hope they have the guts to do it. Then, and only then will progress be made on this countries many fiscal problems. Both sides have good and legitimate ideas for fixing our problems. It only takes one person in the senate to bring those ideas to a vote, or block them and deny the American people what they deserve.

We've actually had the 'left' vs 'right' political discussion here before.
Left = Stalin / USSR / China / Mao Right = Hitler / Fascist / Mussolini
So for political analogy extremes, it's Obama = Stalin, Romney = Hitler.
Anyone on planet earth, in any nation, would understand the above analogy. When you throw in the opposites, something else is usually implied.

But any Democrat Majority leader would block the Ryan plan. I would think any thinking American would have blocked the Ryan plan. Go read the Ryan plan, makes me wonder if Ryan was on crack when he wrote it. I can't recall off the top of my head another plan they blocked from the House that would not hurt the middle class and damage the economy more. Which Republican plan are you talking about that should have passed the Senate that didn't screw the middle class and poor, blocked by Reid? Anyway, getting rid of Reid would be getting rid of the most powerful Mormon in US politics. Why would we want to do that, when any Democrat would do the same thing he did?

Don, the easiest way to figure out who said what is to click the NAME, then read ONLY THEIR POSTS, so you aren't confused by the plethora of quotes and references in a thread.
Show me where I called 'everyone' a racist, other than the one time I simply said 'yup' to your snarky comment. I was the one who said more than once that racists supported Romney, but not everyone who supported Romney were racists.
"Blind devotion"? Who has that? You really need to read my posts again. I have said, probably 10x over the last few months that I am not 100% in agreement with Obama. I am 100% against Romney because when I look at his past record, it disgusts me. In my case, I would have voted for a talking horse over Romney. That I conveniently liked MANY of Obama's policies (but not all) was just gravy.
I was a lifelong REPUBLICAN, a REAGAN Republican. The Republican party today is a big fat lying JOKE, and the most important people in Reagan's Admin spoke out loudly against Romney TOO. You turn this into a religious issue, when I REALLY LIKE Harry Reid, who is THE FIRST Mormon in the USA to obtain such high office. I don't like Mormons? Nice try.
You need to go stew for a while, then come back and read the threads, AND what I said. Also, I am FRIENDS with the other Don, the one I argue with MOST of the time. It's a FRIENDLY argument, I like Don a lot and we both enjoy arguing, WITHOUT MALICE. Your malice just boils off you. Hope you can work that out for your health's sake.

YOU can apologize for relating the President of the US to Hitler. One of the most ludicrous positions there is, given that Obama is himself a minority and minorities overwhelmingly supported him.
I have no idea if you are a racist. Why should I apologize for pointing out the racism in your own words? When you apologize for your words, I won't need to apologize for calling you on them, because you didn't say anything that could be construed that way.

Oh darn. I'm a racist. I don't like Obamas. Neither do I like illegal immigrants, radical Musslims, welfare leaches who are physically able to work, but would rather leach off of our productive society, and countless other things. Guess I'm all kinds of racist. Oh, and then there are oriental people. Don't especially dislike them. love most of their food. Just feel uneasy around them. Maybe it's those racist Vietnam flashbacks again.

Well, obviously, I'm NOT a racist, and I hope someday you won't be. It can happen. The easiest way is if you were drowning and a black man saved your life. The second you hit land, you would no longer be a racist. It can happen that fast. Racism happens from negative experiences or lack of experience. The woman who was violently raped at a young age can HATE men. But someday she can change her mind. Shall we HATE her for her experience and viewpoint? I'm wondering if Don thought I was talking to him a few times when I was talking to you? This multiple Don thing can cause real confusion.

You do not have the real hate that it takes to be a racist. You can be mistrustful and intolerant, and I think you yourself consider that racism, but it is not. A real racist does not consider the race he's against to be even human. He has no qualms about HURTING a child of that race physically, they aren't human and no different from a little pig or baby cow. Not for ONE MINUTE do I believe you could do that to ANY human child. YOU are NOT a true racist, you are morally incapable of physically harming someone you do not believe wants to do you harm. I BELIEVE that. I shouldn't joke or really let you joke about it, but I'm out of time to edit the other post.

As a matter of fact Helen, some of my best friends both growing up, and in adult life have been black. One of the smartest men I knew when I was in Jr. High was the Scout Master of an all black Boy Scout troop.
On at least 3 occasions, I've had my life saved by one or more black friends. Make that 4. I just remembered another time.
On another occasion on one of the ships I served on, we had a black guy who was a leader in the black power movement. If we happened to see each other on deck, he'd shout at me, " Hey Nigger", and I'd shout back, " Wuzzup Honkey". We'd both bust up laughing while everyone else was expecting a fight. We knew each other off of the ship, and were best friends. There wasn't another white guy in our home port who could walk into a "Black Bar" to have a drink with his friend, and expect to walk out in one piece.
You think I'm prejudice against Obama because of his race. I'm not Helen. I'm prejudice against Obama for the people both past and present that he affiliates with. I'm prejudiced against him as a person for his spend yourself out of debt policies. I'm prejudice against him for any number of things, but his race, (or at least half of it), isn't one of them. As a matter of fact, I was rooting for Herman Cain to win the Republican nomination. I knew that if he did, Obama would loose the race card as one of his tricks in the battle to the White House.
Now, shall we carry on to Hispanics ? I have several Hispanic friends too. As well as Philippino, Alaskan Inuet Indian, Several American Indians, an Iranian, Even a friend from Fiji. I'm sure there are several other races of friends I could list, but your mind is made up that I'm a racist, so why bother ?

I'm back from my errands:).
Don von Berlin, not Don Jake, how about we bury the hatchet and just move on? You know darn well the issue between us went back way before your stinky about racism here. With Jim too. We're all adults, we all have the capacity to forgive and forget. Lets do that?
One interesting thing about all this arguing is that every one of us who have participated regularly has managed to have gotten to know each other better. And from ALL sides, I think it's pretty darn clear that we're all caring people. We CARE about the country, we CARE about fellow Americans, the jobs and deficits WORRY us. We only differ in what we think the solution might be. We can all agree that we want EVERYONE in this country to do better, not worse.
Well, keeping in mind that NONE of us actually control the solution or ever did, it makes no sense to get angry about it for real, we have little choice over what the government does. I have been fighting with Don Jake about this stuff from day 1. And over that time, we became friends, while viciously arguing about politics for months. Disagreement doesn't indicate and shouldn't indicate dislike. And if 2 people who can support POLAR opposite viewpoints in many issues can still be friends, we can all be friends. I would like us all to be friends.
Peace.

<<We CARE about the country>> Damned right we do.
<<CARE about fellow Americans>> Key words being "fellow Americans", not illegal aliens who break our immigration laws and sneak across our borders.
<<the jobs and deficits WORRY us>> Jobs for legal residents of this country. Not jobs for those who broke our laws in coming here.

Again, YOU are the one running around calling everyone who voted for Mitt Romney a Racist, not me. I made light of Jim's comment that we should all get behind Obama and support his transformation of America, and sarcastically replied in poor eastern european vernacular with references to "Der Furher" to send the message that this mentality has never been a good idea. Are you really going to tell me that blind devotion to a political leader is a good idea? Really? My use of "Der Furher" makes me a fan of Hitler? Are you really this inept?
I did not say a damn thing about blind devotion. If I "had" meant that the reference to Hitler is still totally out of line. Hitler was the ultimate mass murderer and lunatic and the mention of his name is not welcome in any way shape or form. I would have reacted the same way if you had said the same thing about Romney. I would have reacted the same way if you had said the same about anyone including the lunatics that have gone on a rampage here in the USA and killed multiple people.
Your lack sensitivity to a race of people that suffered tremendous loss and humiliation showed through and is pretty obvious. I did not call you a racist, I called you stupid. The next paragraph pretty much points out that not only are you stupid, you are also an ass hole for making light of your stupidity in that condescending way
Dearest Jim, and my incorruptible Mrs. Helen.
I cannot begin to express the pain and sorrow in my heart I feel for unjustly comparing our glorious leader, Mr Barack Hussein Obama, Leader and Commander of our great homeland to the evil monster Adolph Hitler. I rend my shirt in shame for ever questioning our great leader and his policies, for supporting his enemy Mitt Romney in the midst of our Leader’s greatest hour of need, and for slenderizing his great name on a public forum. I throw my self down at your feet and offer myself up for your righteous Judgment. I realize that I cannot possibly plead for your forgiveness enough and I can only hope that in time you may find it in your infinitesimal generosity and wisdom to grant leniency to this down trodden man, for whom his salt has lost its savor. Long live our Glorious Leader, Mr. Barack Hussein Obama, President of the free world, Commander in Chief of our great homeland, The United States of America.
My final comments on this subject because I am not going to read any more of your drivel.
If we do not get side by side behind the leader and try to clear up the mess we are in with compromise on both sides, listening to the other point of view (both ways), and try to come up with a solution that will help this country instead of dragging it down we will never have a country even close to what we have had in the past.
Stating your point of view is a whole lot different than pissing and moaning because everything did not go your way. No one person has all the answers except for you right? I still think you should go with the incense and flowers thing. In fact, if you send your address I will personally send some flowers to help in your time of mourning. I want everyone to be happy and prosperous.
Jim

hahahaha Because of my hearing I can not distinguish a lot of the words but I thinkI got the gist of it. Something about sending dead flowers. I would never do that. Live cactus maybe.
I can not quite get the rock I am sending into a small box so I have to go with medium. Do you have any use for some Wyoming nephrite? I have a few other goodies you might me interested in but we pretty much have the same rocks. Jim
