X2 Scott. Trucker Bob we need a reach out and touch information favor. Mama has Bob's cell number. If anything happens, she'll contact Bob. Bob will contact Mike fosssilman who will pass on info here. Just had a call from Bob. He's stuck on a jobsite in Texas until mid December. Hopes to retire from trucking early next year. Hope I'm still around to have a nice long visit with him.

Thanks to all for the B-Day wishes. I was too weak to get on line yesterday. Could barely walk to the bathroom.
No cake yesterday, but had a favorite dinner. Fried liver and onions with fried taters. Ice cream for desert.
Gotta go sit in my recliner for a while, but I'll stay logged in and try to get back here later.

I'm still kickin. Just haven't had the strength to sit in front of the computer lately.
Starting to look like my wish will come true, and Jakes ashes will be buried with me. Poor little guy started having seizures about 2 weeks ago. So far he has pulled through them, but I fear his days are coming to an end.
Gotta go sit in my recliner again.Hurts too much to sit here for more than a few minutes at a time. I'll stay logged in and try to get back on later.

Look out snowflakes, I actually got about 6 hours of sleep. Feeling ornery this afternoon.
Gets so damned boring sitting in my recliner just looking at the tube day and night. Lately I've been reading my collection of rock and fossil books, cover to cover. Wish I could one hand a few cabs, but I'd probably end up grinding my one good hand off.
Rock on friends. I'll check in when I Can.

Sorry all of you snowflakes. The old goat is still kickin. Just went through a couple of rough weeks, but starting to get my strength back. Won't be on very much. Still to weak to make the trip back to my computer. Need to get a small side table so I can set it up next to my recliner.
Took a spill the other night and damned near landed on Jake. Poor guy scooted out of the way just in time. He came back to look at me, then went to the bedroom to wake mama. Little guy looks after me.
May be back later this evening.

LOL, hey Cliff, I can get my fix just by punching a button on my display cabinet to turn on the lights. Top 3 shelves are Fairburns, with a few not so nice ones on the bottom 2 shelves. I'd post pics but Photobucket is playing games again. Jake is still a playful pup. Think he's playing games just to boost my spirits. He wants so badly for me to play with him, but I just don't have the strength or balance to do so. Kills me to see him with a toy in his jaws, wanting me to play tug of war with him. Don Lets see if this works. Top shelf

Great find! I have a book about Fairburns that was given to me by a local rock hound before my first visit to S. Dakota. It is full of great information. And to date contains my only fairburn I have all 3 of the Fairburn books by this author. 2 of them signed copies. They're a great resource, filled with lots of info on locations. Good luck finding copies 1 and 2. they're nearly impossible to find. Copy 3 is becoming hard to find also. The Fairburn is South Dakota's state gemstone. Don

Cliff, without actually seeing this piece under a loupe, I can't say with certainty that this is a Fairburn. But having seen many that were badly beaten from tumbling in stream beds, my guess is still leaning towards Fairburn. The type which had a quartz crystal filled center. The crystals get broken apart, leaving a rough texture.
Of course, I could be wrong. It could be a prairie wanna be, trying to be a Fairburn.

We need to get Don, he is the Fairburn man. He will way in directly. Old bear is trying to slow down but the scent of a possible Fairburn will draw him in!!! LOL Yup, I smelled something about Fairburns. My guess is that you have a badly worn partial Fairburn. Those that have been badly fractured over time don't always have complete banding. I have several that look similar to yours. Don

Nope James. after 20 plus years in the Navy, the nearest I want to come to water is the bath tub. Got one of those tubs with the jacuzzi water jets in it. That's my rough water. Rode out a couple of bulkhead walking typhoons in WestPac. That was enough rough water for me. No more being chased by mess deck tables at meal time. No more ducking flying catsup bottles. LOL

Mornin all. Been a while, so I figured that I should check in and let you know I'm still kickin. Last week or so have been pretty rough. Not getting much sleep. 15 minutes here and 1/2 hour there, day and night. Getting pretty weak from lack of sleep. Spending 20 - 22 hours per day just sitting in my recliner.
On a brighter note, it smells like something died around here. Septic tank is being pumped as I'm typing. Figured I'd better get it done so mama has one less thing to worry about after I'm gone.
Had a guy come in and grind all of the tree stumps around the yard. That'll make it easier for mama to mow the 3 acres of lawn. No more having to mow around them, then have to come back with a weed eater to finish up.
Anyway, I'm still around. I check in every 2 or 3 days, just to keep up with what's happening.
Rock on friends. Don

Had a message from my wife's cousin this morning. They're in Denham, TX. They're waiting for the National Guard to come and help them evacuate. She's an RN, and her husband is a Texas politician, so they're high on the list to get help.

what a crappy day. Been 70 Hrs since I was here last. Had about 5 hours of sleep in that time. waited almost 76 years to see a full solar eclipse. Dozed off just as it was starting. woke up at the tail end. Guess I'm gonna have to tough it out for another 99 years to see one.

Well folks, mama went off to bed so I'm gonna shut down for tonight. Depending on if I can get some sleep tonight, I'll try to get back here tomorrow.

Don
I didn't really like "liking" your post. But, I didn't know what to say. It sounds like you are ready to move on and there is no way that I would try to get you stay. That would require you to fight even more and you have been fighting-- so hard. If it is your time to rest, then all I can do is pray that you will soon feel no pain and that you will be happy over the rainbow bridge. Just save a cup of coffee and a rock tale for me.
You can count on it Tela. Always a fresh pot of coffee at my place.

LOL, actually Cliff, I've had Jake stop on a walk and put his nose on a few agates. Maybe agates have a good smell to dogs ? As for finding purdy rocks on the other side of that bridge, all of you can find your own damned rocks. I'm giving my lifes collection away. What I collect in the afterlife is mine. I may trade a few though.
