Beautiful....!! My favorite agate! You did an excellent job on some great material. You’re the one who found the second deposit correct? Yes I was. I never got to go back and dig any of it though. My dad went back to Carey Ranch the following week after I found the vein and worked it. I couldn't go because I had to go to school. When he headed home he stopped at Elkins Rock Shop and showed Hoot what he had dug out. He went again sometime later to get some more, but they wouldn't let him dig any because they (Hoot and Shirts Quant, I believe) had dug the vein out so deep that it was too dangerous to let anybody dig there. I went back several times as an adult and was amazed to see what they had done to that hillside with big equipment. I spent several days at the site going through the tailing piles about 5 years ago, but couldn't find anything there but some angelwing and small pieces of float. I still have most the material my dad dug out - some pretty nice stuff, but none any better than what you've shown here.

All are excellent! Favorite wrap is the blue lace. Favorite cab is the Teepee (interesting how different the front is from the back). Your fingers must be getting sore!

That is really nice! Is it an optical illusion, or is the back side of the cab curved?

Just beautiful! How do you do this (maybe with 2 pair of tweezers and a mini-robot)? Thanks for posting! You must have very good dexterity.

Beautiful work as always Tela! Your creativity always amazes me! You start with quality stones and then do your magic on them to get astounding results. Can't pick a favorite - all are #1.

That is really amazing! I saw this photo when I was trying to figure out how to carve a cameo with the same kind of detail they had in the 1800's (& earlier). The only thing I found was a lady making super-fine scratches on the stone with a small tool. There's got to be a better way! The ancients knew things we can't seem to figure out - from this almost microscopic precision to the monstrous megalithic stones they built with.

Great job on your pet wood cab. The shape and polish look fine to me in the above photo. Thanks for posting.

Jami, that's a real nice kyanite shelf specimen. I've got one just like it in my display case - which has a card with the name on it. 😁 Jean ( rockpickerforever) posted some good info on kyanite. I had no idea where it came from before I read her post.

Tela, Beautiful! I'm really happy you posted these! Now others can see more of your wonderful artistry! Maybe this will "nudge" others ( jasoninsd, etc.) into doing some smithing 😁!

Your cabs and wrapping continue to amaze me! A delight to the eyes! You are truly an artist. I remember seeing your silverwork on another forum a few years back - it would be good to see some of those beauties posted here too.
The ruby fuchsite is my favorite of this batch.

I have the same machine. I put two 8-inch hard wheels on the right and four 8-inch soft (sanding) wheels above the center basin and a 8-inch felt buffing wheel on the left side. I use geysers but they sit so low in the basins that I got a lot of spray outside the machine. I affixed some (kind of junky) plastic spray shields to help with the errant spray and it seemed to work pretty well. I've been using this machine for about 20 years now. I think you will like it. It's not as smooth-running as my Genies, but it still works well.

Very impressive - and beautiful! Such a variety of colors and patterns! Were these self-collected?
The first photo and the last video are my favorites. I don't think I've ever seen any nicer fire obsidian.

Nice rock! If it's solid you can get some neat cabs from it. Especially with the pink (photos #6, 7 & 8).

Beautiful! All of them. I keep staring the girdle lines of your cabs. I've been cabing for decades and my girdles aren't that good. I will be watching to see what you do with that first one.

The material and workmanship are amazing Jason! It looks like you are a certified "pro" lapidary now. Keep up the great work!
