Welcome from a fellow buckeye! I'm in Florida now, but grew up in NE Ohio (Hudson) and then lived in NW Ohio for 35 years. Flint Ridge is a great resource and always a lot of fun to visit. 'Course, this time of year you would have to chip through the snow and ice...

Thanks to you all! I am at the age where none of my family knows what to get me (because I already have everything, right?) so I get cash. I'm already looking at rough rock for sale

I am certainly no expert, but the only problem I have had with close set bezels, or decorations set close to the bezels, is being able to get my bezel rocker in position to roll the bezel wire over the stone. If you have room to do this, there is usually plenty of room to get some kind of polishing disc into the tight spot. I actually will often use a knife blade to fold the bezel wire over the stone - it works surprisingly well.

Thank you all! I think many (most? all?) of us would prefer to see the number go down rather than up, but it was a good day. I think the gift cards will go to brass to try my hand at making some belt buckles; I feel like trying something new.

This came from a book published, I think, in the fifties. Hope it is legible. I have had good results with nephrite jade using only diamond wheels.

I had never heard of Jay Fisher and had to do a quick search. His website is amazing! It's hard to believe there is such a market for knives that are that expensive. Wish I had that kind of money...

It was looking really good, until one side popped off I may or may not of used the epoxy I was instructed to use I'll rectify that tomorrow Did you rough up the blade blank before using the epoxy? I take a cutting wheel to it and groove the whole surface so the epoxy can get a grip.

Those are beautiful. Your silversmithing is always unique and imaginative, and these are no exception. I like the one on the right best, with the spirals not curving all the way in.
