linkFor those wondering: The shell casing would of course not be fired along with the bullet if this were a "real" firearm, however we wanted the shape to be easily identifiable as a bullet by someone who is not familiar with firearms, so we decided to depict the round with the shell casing still attached. We also omitted any geographical or identifying details in the video in order to protect the secrecy of ? operations. This video is intended as a visual depiction of the obstacles faced by the Canadian soldier and not a re-creation of the shot itself.

The rock was painted by a fly tying buddy that died. He used it for a weight in the front of his canoe when he was alone; I do the same. I named the rock Larry in memory of him. The geode was given to me by a local friend that goes down and digs them. I don't particularly care for them myself but a girl I know loves them so it's for her collection, she doesn't have any doubles. Next on the list is a triple? The geode is about 5" across

This is a material I find in the Fraser river BC, from near Hope, up through the canyon. it's still colloquially known as "mutton fat jade" because of it's consistency. Very much like jadeite in crystallature and weight, with a hardness of 7mohs. The green jasper is there for colour correction purposes

I found this while agate hunting in the Robbins range area of SW BC and did a simple groove wrap out of copper to keep it all very simple. The thing about this stone is that it didn't belong anywhere near where it was found and was more than likely lost by someone who traded for, found, or was given it. This is a prime example of a good solid opaque, Fraser river nephrite that was naturally river polished

Very nice! Great work on some unique and beautiful material. Craig Thanks, there's quite a variety and the story about how some of it's collected is pretty funny; there's a 40-50 ft tide in the bay and an island half a mile offshore that is a prime location so you have to know your tides or you'll be out there for a few hours till it turns again LOL

itsandbits I am loving your rock hounding finds....you live in a killer zone. In addition to the epic snow for winter wonderland and world class fishing. Cheers Thanks, I appreciate every season, by the time they change I'm ready for it anyway and they don't last too long here, it's a pretty benign area if you just want to hang out with a lot to do if you want to.

I trade a buddy over there for this material; very sweet to work and SOLID most times. That is a natural formation where the material changes half way

I think ya found the mother lode . yah, it was funny, I took another fellow up to the site last year and all the way up; it's a real grunt to get there, he complained that he'd been up there a lot and there was nothing to be found and why was I wasting his time LOL

I tie rope to my Alice pack and ease it down ledges and cliffs going down hill, works pretty slick!!!! Usually 50 to 75 pounds of rock in it,as the challenge... All good so far.. I would do that but this area is ancient pyroclastic flow/seabed conglomerate/underwater landslide conglomerate, so there's cemented rocks of all sizes sticking up that would stop anything from sliding although because of the slope, things tumble very well...

Love the material and i see why your would call it Van Gogh, good call on that! I was just calling it by the area name at first but a FB friend put together a collage of Van Gogh art and my slabs to convince me it should be changed so I'll have to credit her, LOL

goo.gl/photos/ryH8jt8vUi5FhKyt7
On a desktop or laptop computer you should be able to right click and view image. At that point you can grab the URL and put the image here. Soon Tommy will be releasing a far better photo host (for this website purposes) for free to our members. Makes putting the pics in the posts trivial.
I'll give it a shot and try it here; it showed up in preview before but wouldn't post

Pretty easy for me to sit here in front of the computer and make useless suggestions. hahaha Good luck and please do not roll down the mountain with a full back pack on. Three quarters of each rotation ain't bad but the last quarter probably really sucks. Jim
Yeah, if I rolled down, it wouldn't be pretty, you don't see the first 50ft. drop just below where I'm standing in the vid. The drop angle from there to where it could unload would be about 60-70 degrees and a quarter mile away so I'm hooped there too, I figure I'm just a mule and that's it LOL

I found myself in that situation once. I lost a few to the underbrush but compared to the energy I saved it was well worth it. It doesn't take much to get most of them rolling. If there is a chance they will go on down the hill so you would have to carry them back up just park your vehicle there to stop them, just make sure your insurance is paid up. Jim You just gave me a thought Jim; a zipline would be the way to go, problem is it's all porcelain type jasper and I want to keep it in as big of piece as possible so I can't toss it off the cliff. Thar's how I ended up tracking it down eventually was all the tiny shards I kept finding
