Cool concept with the amethyst center. I like it I havent made too many druze pieces before, I'm going to try and do some cabs with natural textures inside some time. I have come cool local bubble and sphere chalcedony / agate that will be interesting. I was thinking of making that a theme for one month.

Finally finished... I may try to get a better pic later. For all those that are worried about breaking stuff... If I couldn't break this you shouldn't have too many problems.

That turned out nice, I guess everyone that followed both parts got brownie points. I gave that option mostly for people that refused to do hearts... but it looks like they might not enter this contest at all. The real questions are: did you have fun making it? Maybe learn something new? Those are the questions that count in my opinion! I'll probably cut mine out tomarrow, maybe start grinding it. Thanks, Glenn. Did I have fun making it? Yes. I always enjoy making cabs. Did I learn something new? Not really, I have made heart cabs before.
BUT, it did make me remember how much of a mess the flat lap makes without the water shield, lol.
One that didn't work out , but this is how it is done. Kinda thought it might not work out, so I did the other one as well.
Jean that's an awesome heart - & on the flat lap gets triple brownie points! Thanks, Nate. I have yet to get one of those. did the amethyst not work out due to the fractures? Superglue is a friend! Looks like you use a similar technique that I do, although it looks like your angle can be steeper than mine.

Well, I'll throw my cab into the ring. Did just what glennz01 said, I decided to follow both options (color and shape). Do I get brownie points for that?
Picked up the little slabette at a show somewhere. Not positive, but pretty sure it is rhodonite. A little soft, but heavy!
In case you wondered, I did this on my flat lap, sans water shield. That turned out nice, I guess everyone that followed both parts got brownie points. You have one in progress right? We can up the tally to 5. My guess is that the first option made people not want to try and didn't see the 2nd option as noted by some in last months thread. I do find it interesting that everyone so far decided to follow both options. Mine is in since a couple of weeks. Must have been tired and didn't see the name with the rock -,-

One week to go and only four entries? Where is everyone? Its been a quiet month overall on all platforms, but such a wide open theme should have gathered more entries. You have one in progress right? We can up the tally to 5. My guess is that the first option made people not want to try and didn't see the 2nd option as noted by some in last months thread. I do find it interesting that everyone so far decided to follow both options.

My opinion; just up and bagging a job with no notice might well burn a bridge you may need to cross one day. I'm 69, never worked in a lot of places, but could go back to most if I wanted. I gave an option and explained my situation and the manager said that they will work it out, the manager didn't seem to really care or get worried about getting he replacement since he has 2 other delivery guys. He as surprised that I am 2 months behind in a college class though and agreed that that should be more of a priority. If I wanted to go back I could go back.. Quite frankly I felt like quitting the day they told me to come in and once I was in 20 min after commuting they said they didn't need me once I arrived.

okay... I'm waiting on an important phone call, so I can't run the pressure washer. But! I made time to open the 3 boxes from Glenn. I gotta admit, that when it comes to packing boxes, I'm way beyond anal. Read that as: I tend to grossly over pack to help ensure items survive the gorillas wearing US Postal Service uniforms. Glenn has me beat. The contents of these boxes could have survived a nearby nuclear blast! Color me impressed with your packing Mr. Z The contents are equally impressive. As good or better than I could have hoped for. It's never easy buying online with just pictures, but nothing I bought could possibly disappoint. Everything met or exceeded expectations. Thank you Glenn! Nicely done. I will post pictures at some point in the near future, but I'm over my head trying to get things accomplished or caught up around here after been out of town for a couple days. More later - Glad you like it all I I like to make sure everything arrives as good as the day I packed it, dealing with insurance can be a pain some times.

the position has turned from a schedule position to an "on call" position so to speak. They have a few other guys that can help and 2 more employees since I started. Also in all of my business college classes, they say that not giving a long notice is actually better. If I work monday that will be my last day... I'll still be as busy as I need to catch up on college homework. basically a number in a computer probably could care less about getting a two week notice from you Best wishes. exactly what I am

Depending on what type of business it would be good if you could give them a heads'up that you're leaving...a week or two could help them out. the position has turned from a schedule position to an "on call" position so to speak. Annoyance can teach things... If nothing is being learned there and it's an annoyance and there is no profit financially... it's your call to make. But be sure of things before you make a move and if you do leave be sure and leave on good terms. Three jobs and college...nobody can say that you're lazy!!! Yeah, i'd have to be working a lot more at another job anyway coming soon. If I leave I will just say that some things came up where I can't for-fill the work needs.

wow, i thought this business had been around forever, so you could trust them. Made in USA, right? i asked around before i bought a flat lap and the Inland Swap Top came in as the overwhelming front runner. Ordered mine on 1/29, got an immediate email "thank you for your order". then....nothing. for weeks. i called them this past Monday (2/15) enquiring about my order. They couldn't even find it in their system. worrying, this. But, after talking to Customer Service (yup. they didn't know anything either) the unit magically appeared on my doorstep yesterday. Assembly was a bit more complicated than advertised. The threaded shaft was .5015" and the disks were dead on .500", you bad Inland. On top of that, the water delivery system didn't work at all. had to re-engineer that too. giving this a big thumb down as their Customer Service Website is down at the moment. boo hiss. I had the same problem with graves.. wont buy again. Ive heard mixed reviews about indland

Good going, Glenn!!! Sounds like progress is happening!!!!! Yeah it is slowly coming... I'm debating on quitting one of my 3 jobs that has became an annoyance rather than a profit.. I need to catch up on college work as well.

Well ive got one of the flat laps going, the other one needs a new motor to be operable (very noisy and seizes a few times) My 10 inch or whatever size saw it is works good. still need to look at the tumblers... the small one needs a new belt or something.

Finally found what I am going to cab... I'm going to go with a heart shape but this may be my most difficult heart and cab I will have made to this day when completed.. I'm hoping to get my preform drawn tomorrow. My plan is a amythest crystal in agate heart. I should draw 2 preforms just in case I mess one up
