What if I'm a bit past being a youngster, understand what you are talking about, but simply have no idea why you are continuing to talk about it here on Glenn's For Sale thread? Looking for a rock saw. I'm new to tumbling and m be interested. To many for me to look through but you are doing it right. Also looking for rough rocks to tumble. Just wondering what state or where you live? pmd I'm in the warm state of Alaska (currently no pun intended!)

glennz01 I reread the beginning about payment and saw this: If you take PP from people as a gift, that will give you less protection, not more. Better to take as goods from newbies. Also, can you number your pictures? I saw some interesting things, but now I don't know what pictures they were and I don't have time to go through and try to figure it out. If money is sent via pp gift, a scammer can't go through the process of making a claim to try to get a refund. If they wanted a refund, they would have to contact me and I could issue a refund if the conditions are met. Regular paypal usually sides with the buyer and has been an issue for many sellers that I know that have been scammed. If it is not the case that sending money via pp gift and someone can make a claim, please send me a link to the info. I will number the photos for you

Regarding the flat laps: It may not be the motors are "wearing out". We had one like what you show. It had a hard time getting started when we got it, the motor bushings were dry. Took the motor out, oiled it up and it ran fine. I got the motors working, I was able to bring them home last night. I got it started by hand turning it (power off) one of the motors would become harder to turn in one part, the other is showing the same symptoms but not to the same extent. I told my boss about it since he knows a bit about motors and said the bearings or something may be going bad, and to write down the motor info and he'll order new ones. The really old looking machine is where it has the most problem turning by hand in one area. something is sticking but not sure what.

Cord connections will be under the cover plate with the Lubrication instructions. There might be wiring instructions on the inside of the cover. A 1/3hp capacitor start motor is enough to run most arbors or a saw up to 16 inches, more than enough for a tumbler. That is what I was thinking, If it works good I might just save it for a saw... my 40 lb tumbler has a 1/4hp motor I may see if I can get a trim saw blade to fit on the new saw seen in the photo... the guy that had the flat laps is going to get some new motors since they are wearing out

I will have to get a pic of the motor... it seems more fit to run a saw... It is larger than my lortone 40# tumbler motor. If it's that big of a motor, I'm sure it would do the job, but it may be over kill and cause you one heck on an electric bill. May be easier (better) to swap out motors depending on what you are dealing with here. Pictures will help. Yeah, I should be able to get photos tonight or tomarrow. I might be working a bit today since i'll be getting overtime wage all day.

I've referbed a couple older Lortones, neither had the original motor. I do have an original one in the shop about the size of what you describe, picture would be most helpful. Unless as Don said, you have stub remnants. no stubs that I can see without opening the motor. If I have some time after completing a few tasks here i'll try to get a photo tonight. It mayn ot be the original motor ether

I just got an old lortone 8 0r 10 lb tumbler that had a motor and everything... the motor did not have a cord however. I'm wondering if anyone has replaced a cord before and maybe has some pics of what it should look like when finished. if I get this working, I will have 5 tumblers although a few of them will be going in storage.
i will get a pic of the motor sometime hopefully soon.

OK, here is my submission for this months contest. This contest reminded my that i really suck at hearts, LOL! I think this is maybe my second one ever. Anyway, here is the slab, a rather large piece of tiffany stone that took some wrangling to get it positioned in my trim saw: Thanks for the contest! KD Super nice material you got there. The cutting just needs practice thats all. First piece for valentine contests, and likely entry here. One blade up to here. So for those of you with no Fordome or dremmel, that is something you can do. Given I got practice, and my wheel is a little smaller, you will have a harder time, but its possible. Thanks for looking, Kurt That has a unique twist to it. You blade / knife thing looks like something I could make on my 6" wheels, although i'd have to level out the bottom rightmost curve a bit. One tip for those that may have a hard time with the inner angle is that all angles most be at least 90* or more. to get rid of the "V" cut the hard wheels make one needs to use the very edge of the wheels (I make a shallow pit giving 2 bumps to my heart).

Looks really nice krazydiamond . If I have time, and noone else decides to make a prize, I will try to make everyone a winner and make a video of my tips and tricks for heart shaped cabs. I'm working 60 hrs a week though so no guarantees it will be immediately after the contest.

Think both of those spheres are very cool. And ya can't beat the price! That was some fast shipping by the post office. Ever come to a conclusion on what they are? Around here it's: hide from wife so I don't hear "You don't need any more rocks!" She is right, of course. I don't NEED more rocks. I WANT more rocks. Figure it's kinda like SHE doesn't NEED more shoes! I have to agree about the shipping... but with the price increase they increased the priority from 3 day to 2 day mailing.
