I've noticed that the Bumblebee orange slowly fades to yellow with exposure, once it's slabbed. Polishing will probably prevent fading.

Now that is nice! Is the gravel pit fee use or just a random pit you found?

Good questions. I was also wondering when the soft wheels are considered worn. I just assumed they wouldn't do their job any longer. Rotating seems like a great idea when the time comes.

From my experience I would not recommend a Barranca Diamond BD-10 as mine has given me nothing but trouble since I got it, poor design in my opinion; tank gaskets don't work, arbor bearings go bad after 4-6 months, blade cover improperly centered and constantly falls on blade., on and on. I wish I could do it over. I brought this BD-10 as my trim/slab saw because I had heard nothing but praise for the company but they certainly dropped the ball on this model. I hope the larger models are better designed... However, their customer service does try hard to help resolve some issues; but having the saw off line for weeks at a time is annoying...

A "horny toad" I've always wanted to see one! They only eat ants though right? I'd think hard to keep as pets if that's the case, no?
Always enjoy seeing Jax too.

I keep mine out on all available flat surfaces in my man cave. No organization at all yet.

Great photos! I agree that your Ms. slab looks like Amethyst Sage. Definitely do some research on stabilizing that fractured "Tree w/ mtn & sunset" slab - that would be a fun project itself. Something I myself keep putting off :-(

Thanks for the reply Tommy, I sometimes wish I lived closer to the rockhounding areas of the US - out west I mean. Your golden honey cabs are wonderful and will probably be almost unique if the old prospector doesn't show up with more of the two materials. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share such cool finds!

I use a shower curtain to keep my little used tile saw from the rain with no problems. BTW - one can never have enough slabs...

Is this stuff commercially available yet? or just scattered availability? In any case it's very attractive material.

Love your cabs. Were you a submariner? I was on Skate, Hawkbill, and Batfish. Thanks, Yeah, I was a bubblehead - forward ET on Birmingham. There is at least one other here somewhere. Three boats, good on ya! and welcome aboard!
