Welcome from KY. You'll find answers you need here. Don't knock that 7" Harbor Freight tile saw too much. Mine has served it's purpose for me over the last 5 years. Definitely not a finesse machine, though.

Thanks! I keep thinking there must be a better than cabochon lapidary use for this boulder, jasoninsd what do you think? I think it would work great as a gift! Beautiful stone

Those are some great finds. I've had a couple boxes of that gravel and it is a fun bunch of stuff to tumble. I'd imagine there could be some nice cabs in there too. Thanks for sharing!

I may as well provide a daily update on this one. Against all odds, Garage Rocker has the closest guess. (Something tells me that may change once the boxes actually start arriving.) Hahaha, I won't have the last laugh, but I get the first. Finally, it pays off, for a moral victory! Thanks for the contest AND the chuckle I got when I saw the good news.

Soooo, did anyone check this sale out? I was wondering that too... I had already decided I wasn't going, but woke up at 5AM Sunday and came a whisker from jumping in the truck and heading out. It's best I didn't, I had some family stuff pop up that I'm glad I was around to handle. I definitely don't want to see pics of any great haul that was purchased for pennies on the dollar, at this point.

Anyone who's been around long enough knows my standard answer to guessing games...

Brian I know it's gonna be tough enough keeping track of boxes but I switched it up a bit and combined the German agates and the cut scraps in one MFRB. Means you'll only be getting two boxes from me instead of three. Of course you know what that means... rockhounds don't like empty spaces in boxes. The "hand picked" SFRB of cut scraps turned into pouring the entire tub into bags haha. There is a lot of junk but there is also some seriously nice stuff in there so enjoy. Nothing better than getting cabbing 'scraps' from a high end cab maker. Some of my most interesting tumbles came from those kind of boxes. I haven't gotten one in a while, I better start beating the bushes and find some.

Nobody knows for sure. At one point I think jasoninsd estimated it at 150, but more stuff was added after that. It wouldn't surprise me if it adds up to 250.
Brian please weigh your boxes as they come and keep a tally of the weight. It would be really interesting to see what the actual total weight of all these is. Will do! I’m kind of curious myself. Hmmm... this could be a fun idea for a contest. See who can guess the weight! Alright!!! I might be able to win my box back!

I was given the green light to go, but there seems to be a road closed near the location, which will result in a 10 hour round-trip for me. I'd be willing to make that drive on a guaranteed bet. Too many unknowns.

Now, the next challenge will be how to ship all these rocks in a USPS proof box. I'm going tape shopping tomorrow.

Congrats, Brian! Thanks to all the participants who made this a fun auction to watch. It's had math, it's had drama, it's had poetry...it's had it all!!!

according to FB still open. $7.50 fee plus$.50 per pound collected. They say follow the dirt track across the road to get to the dig pits. oregonThere is a dirt track leading into the woods across the road from the Nether's farmhouse. It's rough, but doable in a car when we were there. You'll only go a couple hundred feet, if that, to get to the pits. There's no mistaking where you need to be.

I don't know, I got my shot and it seems there have been no significant side effects that I can tell.

Thanks for the assists again jasoninsd! To the relief of hopefully everyone I would like to wrap this thing up in proper fashion. I am adding another SFRB of tumble scraps that might consist of trim saw offcuts. I will do my best to get photos up by tonight if I get off early enough. Also, I am proposing that after this date push out to Saturday the 17th we conclude the auction with no additional date push-outs, and move the end time up to 7pm out of respect for our east coast folks. If anyone who has been actively involved in this thread either giving or bidding has any objection to either of these changes please say so. Thank you, Tommy.

No need to think on it. I'll add a SFRB filled with Picasso Stone Marble Slabs and Silver Lace Onyx Slabs. Of course these would be good for cabs, but could be tumbled as well. I'll get some pics posted either tonight or tomorrow...but Tommy, this will extend the auction to Friday night 10pm your time. This should give the last minute bidding snipers a chance to stay up late on a Friday, rather than a work night. You're the best. Thank you!

True. This things ends tonight at 10:00 Pacific, unless there is a late material add-on. That means you'll have to stay up late on the East Coast if you want to head off any last minute bids out west. (I kind of wish this had been addressed before the last day, but I just noticed) Better have an afternoon nap, buddy. Tell me about it! I may need to add some beautiful gray Pennsylvania gravel just to get another day’s extension since tomorrow will be an early work day. Although people may pay more just to avoid getting a box of that stuff sent to them. I actually considered doing this with a small box, just to extend the deadline to Friday night, instead of a weekday night. Let's think on this...

You're killing the East Coast crowd with those 'leftovers'. It sure is pretty, though. You better believe it. I'm crying down here in FL..... Maybe the thought is, they are too nice to cut, so leave them whole. I can live with that...
