Mike, this is a beautiful stone/wrap combo. I get that Rich likes this also, but his phrasing/humor/intent is sometimes hard to pin down. I like his input though, it's not bland and I am guilty of the same. You let the stone be the star here, because this IS a stunning cab, and complimented with a subtle, well executed wrap. As a matter of fact, I tend to agree with Diane that those accents off the bail aren't necessary.

Just got this in an email from Rock and Gem Magazine. I know we have a few Kentucky folks on the board so I thought I'd post it in case anyone was interested:
The whole collection is to be sold in four parts. I'm afraid my bid probably wouldn't get it done. I may go walk through, regardless.

Yup, that's some shiny Tiger Eye. The crazy lace teaser has to have you pumped to do the rest, it's a good looking rock.

After the rock enthusiast in me gets past the impressive pile of rocks you've stashed away there, I wonder...you got some skeletons in that closet garage, or something? I'm curious about the top of that picture.

Welcome from Kentucky. What kind of rough have you purchased for your tumbler? A lot of early lessons are learned trying to tumble material that is too difficult, even with years of experience. That's not a bad thing, as long as you're willing to stick it out and learn, but some advice before starting could be useful.

I got a chunk of this from Mel years ago and it is AMAZING stuff. Congrates to the buyer- you are very lucky! Thanks, I know to watch for anything Mel offers up. Multiple purchases and never been anything but thrilled. Stay tuned for pics.

Is that just the discard pile, Garage Rocker ? It looks like most of those have been cut at least once. HankRocksHahaha, Brian, I wish that was my yard. Not that my wife would allow that. This is my favorite hounding spot around here. It has been picked over quite a bit since these pics were taken. I don't even know what's left now, it's been a couple years since I've been. That, by the way, is every bit Kentucky agate. Pretty much have to cut it to see if it's worth anything, or a dud.

Hey, this is good looking stuff. It would have driven me crazy to know (think) there was material this nice, that close that I couldn't reach. Hope that quad pays off. Not literally, of course, but I hope you find the mother lode of blue agate.

That's a well thought out, well written plan. I like the mix of rocks you've chosen, too. Smart to stick with material that gives you a good chance for success. Those small pieces will come in handy and you'll be surprised how fast you use them. Discipline, attention to detail and good judgement all count for something here. Be patient with them in the first stage and I'm sure you can come away with some tumbles to be proud of. I'm betting you're going to be fine. Look forward to shiny pics...in a while.

Beautiful! That stuff always amazes me. There are some nice rough pieces in my collection, but it seems so daunting I don't even consider doing anything with it. Thanks for sharing!

I keep coming back. Those fortifications in the last several pics are definitely worthy of return viewing, but don't sleep on the slab in the second photo. A little bit of everything going on.

I only run first stage in my QT66, so I have never used plastic pellets. There is no need to cushion in that stage and the pellets just take up space. I normally throw in my tile saw scraps and I usually have some heavily fractured rocks I've busted up for smalls.
The machine, though, is a workhorse. It's my favorite.
