Do you have any photos of the pet trees there or does anyone? Agree, the price seems low.

After two crazy days at work, today is going to be fun. My daughter and I are doing a marathon baking /making session for Sunday’s family reunion. We will be making: Old Fashioned Dilly Bread. Deviled Eggs. Gooey Bars. Some type of 1950’s pasta salad she has the recipe for. Putting these wonderful local and MN berries in my travel/serving tray. Also need to put together a couple silent auction boxes with this and some other things. AJ loves to make stuff in the kitchen, so he should be able to help. He also loves to eat strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Should be a great day.

Since several have expressed interest in offering fund raising boxes for a zoo bench in honor of Ed (Mohs), would everyone be interested in forming a group chat?
We could coordinate what we are offering and when it would be available. That way there would not be several auctions at the same time.
I can put together a cabbing/jewelry box that contains slabs, jewelry findings and neck chains for displaying wrapped cabs.
Will not have time to do this until later in August.
Please post what you think.

I am going through old photos and scanning them. Scanning and inverting old negatives, too. This really does not fit in the Face Behind the Name category, so sharing here. A little me. The space heater was our main heat source for the entire house. I still have the embroidered horse picture that my Grandma made. That is shown above the space heater. It is now in my living room. The TV lamp is on my fireplace mantle. I love the decorative edges on B/W photos of that era.

This week Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, WI, will be the busiest airport in the world. It is EAA AirVenture week. Over 10,000 aircraft fly in and out of the airport. There are special air traffic lanes in Wisconsin during this event. The line dance: The hook: Aircraft need to travel South and West of the airport to get in line to land.

I really did not need another project, but the opportunity came up. We use this liquor at work for Margaritas. The bottle became empty yesterday. We just throw empty bottles in recycling, so it was fair game. My first thought was a lamp. Second thought was breaking and tumbling. I think the glass is this color. Not a coating. I want to put a LED light inside the bottle. Mount a polished rock slab to a thick piece of nice wood. The rock slab and wood would need a hole drilled in them large enough to accommodate the bottle. Another area on the bottom of the wood would need to be shaped with a router to accommodate the base of the LED light. Plan B would be to cut a piece of PVC pipe or copper tubing long enough to go from the bottom of the wood to the center of the bottle. Then arrange some LED lights so they stand straight and waterfall down the edges of the pipe. The underside of the wood would need a channel cut in it to accommodate the electric cord. I would rather have just one light, as I think using a LED strand would look cheap. What do you think? Any other suggestions on how to transform this bottle into a lamp? Thank you

PSA for Those Who Can Items
In case you did not notice. Many brands of vinegar now have 4% acidity. Why is this important? It takes at least 5% to properly preserve most things. Even some brands of what is labeled as Pickling Vinegar are less than 5%.
I didn’t believe it, so last time I was at the grocery store, I checked. They only had 3 brands of vinegar. Surprisingly, the store brand was the only one with 5% acidity. I let the owner know, as she was on a checkout line. She was very upset. Plans on telling her husband about this. Many people in my area pickle items. She does not want anyone getting sick from vinegar purchased at their store.

A friend of mine recently re-opened her bakery/restaurant in Amherst. To go items only. Open Tuesday-Wednesday from 9-1. She also hosts cooking/baking classes with guest chefs and has a 1970’s style loft Airbnb unit above the bakery. Amy does not have any employees as of now. She does all the cooking/baking herself. Usually starts at about 2 AM. Has many varieties of wheat free, gluten free, vegan, paleo and vegetarian foods. A variety of natural non-alcohol beverages. She also has some regular items. Today, I arrived about 9:30. There were about 48 items in the bakery case. Another 240 in containers waiting until there was room in the case. Only 4 lunch bowls left. This Sweet Potato/Rice/Black Bean Bowl made for a perfect supper. I had to remove the peppers and onions, but it was great. I also got a Gooey Chewy Bar. Imagine an oatmeal bar loaded with thick, hot fudge. It must be eaten with a spoon. They are great warm with a little ice cream on top.

Was outside at work last night after a downpour. We had lots of Canadian smoke yesterday. Had to stop and take this photo of the sun. Unfortunately, my phone did not capture the sun dog, but oh well.

Some old button tins. My Grandma’s. There is a small envelope in it containing shell buttons. Many of them are very thin. You can see layers of different colors on some. A few have a coral/pink back. There are cards of buttons in it, too. Most purchased in the 1970’s. My G-Grandma’s and G-G-Aunts button tin. They owned a millinery/dress shop in Chippewa Falls, WI in the 1800’s. This one is about 10” wide. It contains many things other than buttons. Hat pins, thimbles, treadle sewing machine bobbins, scarf slides. Also has my G-G-Aunts guitar picks and a tuning peg from her guitar. Some of the buttons are leather. Some are leather covered in cut out metal. A few are wood. I want to turn my G-G-Aunts guitar tuning peg into a necklace. I recently found out she performed at some shows at Opera House’s in the Chippewa Falls area. I have one of her hand written books with song lyrics and places she performed. Sometimes her Brother (my G-Grandpa) would perform with her. I have his fiddle, but it is in need of major repairs. Do you have any button tins from your ancestors? Are there things other than buttons in them? Do you remember looking in the button tins as a child? Did you ever make spinners from the large coat buttons?

Cancer is awful. Especially when it suddenly takes the life of someone young.
Losing parents is hard. My Dad died when I was 8 and Mom when I was 40.
I think people here would be interested in some of your agates.
