Someone was metal detecting at my place. Central WI. He found a few cool things and some rocks. Here is one of the rocks. It was found in 3 pieces, about 2' below the surface. Highly magnetic. Largest piece went up to a Rare Earth magnet 2” above it. I am guessing about a 7-7.5 hardness. A quartz point did not scratch it. The white lines are quartz like. Lots of sparkles on the broken surfaces. Very heavy for size. Any ideas on what it is? Thank you.

Pretty flowers, but highly invasive. Poisonous to horses. Spotted knapweed. I will be mowing all that are in my yard before they go to seed. Thankfully, there are none in the horse pasture.

Glad your daughter stayed safe. Trying moments for a mom.
I am always a little scared when I see a photo of a former customer of mine that was arrested for robery, shooting incident, kidnapping, etc. Just a sign of the times, I guess.

As of now, we have 14,849 RTH members. Wow! Granted some have not posten in a long time, or never posted.
Do we want to do something special for the 15,000 member?
Maybe a RTH shirt/cap and some rocks/slabs depending on the persons interests?
Just throwing it out there.

As for the wrap I will be getting a wrap sent to me when fernwood is feeling spry and vigorous again. No complaints here. Very happy to be participating. More fun to come. Great cabs by all! Sorry I have no references I'll do better I was halfway through editing when I I realized my mistake and I know you all have been patiently waiting. If you want any photos by themselves I have them and I'll post on demand. Thanks guys n dolls. Thank you! I didn't know fernwood wasn't ready... Don't worry abt size reference photos unless you want to. Just tell us which is biggest and which is smallest. Sorry. I was ready when the box was sent to me. Unfortunately, my fall occurred shortly after I received the box. My knee injury has been very trying and painful. I still cannot sit for more than a few minutes and am in a lot of pain when my legs are not fully extended. I cannot do wire wraps when lounging on my couch. If it makes things better, I did take one broken cab, one good cab and replaced them with 3 other cabs. I will be sending a wire wrap within a month or so.

That makes sense. I usually see them in the AM. Temps have been in the 50's lately then. Will see what happens tomorrow, as it is supposed to be warmer. Peak activity is on the hottest cloudless days here Beth. Around noon to 2pm. The carnivorous plants are divided by 4 foot wide concrete walkways that absorb heat greatly increasing the temps and evaporate a lot of water. In 30 minutes you are soaking wet. That concrete growing system would store heat overnight and advance plants faster than the covered greenhouses but the houses did not offer protection from frosts. They have always been loaded with dragonfly nymphs too. Well the concrete system maintains a shallow 3 inches of water that gets very warm early boosting metabolism. Many leave their nymph stage there. That begs the question if they return or stay close to their birthing location. There is plenty of space to grow more plants in the concrete system, I wonder if there are specific plants that would attract dragonflies. Around here any plants that attract bugs, attract dragonflies. They especially like mosquitos and small flies. Peak activity here is usually shortly after sunrise or before sunset.

Interesting. I often see several perched near each other on my plants. They don't stay close together long. What are your daytime temps ? Yesterday was overcast and there wasn't a dragonfly to be found at their normal time. On cool days they are way less aggressive. Heat does play a big role in their activity level. That makes sense. I usually see them in the AM. Temps have been in the 50's lately then. Will see what happens tomorrow, as it is supposed to be warmer.

I love dragonflies. Everyone's photos have been very inspirational. I am working on this painting. Originally, was planning on Eastern Pondhawks. Now am thinking something with more color in the wings. Plan on using iridescent paint for the dragonflies and a little in the background. That is a scene rarely seen Beth, two dragonflies perched next to each other. Man those guys do battle. I get it for the reason of your fine outline. Nice drawing skills ! Anxious to see the finished outcome. As soon as they are in close proximity they want to wrestle. Not sure what they do to each other during these matches, guessing some form of bodily damage. Interesting. I often see several perched near each other on my plants. They don't stay close together long.

Could anyone help ID these? They are about 6 hardness. I thought the black inclusions were unique. They were part of the bundle I recently purchased. Unknown location. The first photo is more true to color. Thank you

My Son in Law was the lead designer and engineer for a new splash pad and playground in Plover, WI. They were part of a multi-million dollar project to improve Lake Pacwa Park. The Village of Plover on Friday unofficially opened its new accessible splash pad and playground, kicking off the Celebrate Plover weekend. The playground and splash pad are friendly for kids (and adults) with all abilities. The water for the splash pad all comes from the lake. it runs through a bunch of filters and goes back into the lake, so the lake will be cleaned, too. Water quality in the lake has prevented swimming often. The splash pad water, combined with a new filtration system should prevent future beach closures. The splash pad and playground are AJ approved. Here is a video of the areas.
