On this day in weather history: 1988 - While cool air invaded the central U.S., unseasonably hot weather continued over the western states. The temperature at Spring Valley, NV, soared from a morning low of 35 degrees to an afternoon high of 95 degrees. Fallon, NV, reported an all-time record high of 108 degrees, and Death Valley, CA, reported their sixth straight day of 120 degree heat. (The Weather Channel) (The National Weather Summary)
Things are pretty normal in WI. 90 degrees and humidity up to 40% today. Higher humidity Friday. Good chance of severe storms come Saturday. Then a cool down to upper 70's.

AJ went berry picking in the park across the road. He has a strict rule that berries cannot be eaten while picking them. On the way home he told my daughter he wanted to give Gamma his berries. He stopped and told my daughter to take a picture of the berries for me. So thoughtful of him. He knows I love berries as much as he does. Grandchildren are the greatest! My youngest turns 18 this weekend. He is going to be following his Grandma's interests this fall in college- History and rocks.
How special. You must have had a great influence on him.

I like lots of pics, but a reasonable size. My laptop has an 16" screen. If a photo takes up the entire screen or more, then I just stop reading.
When I post photos, I go back to edit, bbc Code and reduce photo size to 50%.

I would number the boxes and assign letters to the cabs. So, there might be Pet Wood Cab, Item 6c, etc.

One down, 20+ to go. I started with the easiest one. It will be a few days until I can move the brush pile in my yard.

Take your time, looks like fun. So much easier and safer than using a gas powered chainsaw.

Was walking back from watering 4-legged family members and noticed something. This tree was almost reaching the lead in electric wires. My son in law cut down some box elders last year so my new furnace could be installed. The trees were blocking access to the door leading to basement stairs. I mentioned this tree to him and he said not to worry about it. The trees he cut down last year have some new shoots that are up to 7’ tall right now. Anyways, knew I could not let this tree grow any more. So…. + + 5 minutes = I had to stop. Heat index was over 90 when I spent 5 minutes cutting what I did. My knee was beginning to hurt. Hope to cut down main trunk today. The chain saw was easy to assemble and worked great. My only complaint is that one is to use their thumb to push in the safety button and finger to push in trigger at the same time. My hand is not large enough to do this, so I was using a finger from left hand on safety button. Will see how long the chain stays sharp. I have chain sharpening files and have sharpened many chains in the past.

BRIC was at Road America this past weekend. My daughter and her family attended. BRIC-Brian Redman International Challenge. Road America is a well known road race track near Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. I worked at Road America for several years. Would take vacation from my regular job to work on the Media Crew there. One time I was working at the autograph tent during BRIC. Phil Hill was there talking with those attending the race and signing merchandise. The title race sponsor that year was Sargento. For those unfamiliar with them, they are a large cheese manufacturer, located near Road America. Phil was the first American-born race-car driver to win (1961) the Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix world championship of drivers. He also drove in a number of other race series. Phil and I spent some time talking during the autograph event. When it was over, he grabbed one of the hats that were available for purchase, autographed it and gave it to me. I later worked Winner’s Circle for the main race. Received another of the sponsor caps at that. That cap has been my go to cap for many years. I wear it when doing AM chores or outside. The autographed one has been tucked away amongst the many caps I obtained while working at Road America. Unfortunately, Phil Hill passed in 2008. I feel fortunate to have been able to spend some time talking with this amazing person.

Chain saw arrived yesterday. I charged the battery. Hope to get it assembled today. The included “Safety Gloves” are a joke. Just some nylon knit gloves that are very slippery when holding anything. It will be at least several days before I can do any serious tree removal. Note #4 on the instruction list. Talk about vague instructions.

I hope only by a week or so. They must be removed by the middle to end of August. Years ago I had issues with one of my knees. I got one of those inexpensive compression knee braces at Walmart...worked wonders for getting me "mobile" sooner... I am wrapping it for now. Might need to get a brarce.

How badly is the knee injury going to effect your time-frame for getting these trees removed? I hope only by a week or so. They must be removed by the middle to end of August.

Nice. I get the individual Turritella shells. They make for some nice pendants and earrings.
That Baha has a lot going on.

My new best friend. Fell down at work Thursday night. Messed up my knee. Am off work until Occupational Health schedules a follow-up appointment. At least nothing is broken or dislocated. There is still a lot of pain and I can barely walk at times.
