I got two votes (neither were mine). Thanks much you two. Way better than last time when I got zero. The bar for me is raised. Congrats to everybody who submitted and especially to those who won.

I'd put it into stage 3 grit and check often because the rocks is soft and you probably don't want a white pebble resulting. Good luck if you try. Thanks, good tip. I will definitely skip at least step one/ I am not looking to make it perfect, so even if some of the pitting remains that would be OK. You can always back up a stage if things aren't aggressive enough, but cannot replace rock that was removed. I have had good luck with softer rocks, starting with stage 3 (pre-polish) and sometimes (with something already shaped) with stage 4 (polish). For sure, keep an eye on it. I have destroyed some soft rocks in less than a day in a rotary tumbler.

A Dremel with carbide bits would probably work. I'd suggest practicing on a cheaper stone until you get your process down.

I hate it when people at work learn I like rocks and suggest the Michigan Rocks Youtube channel. LOL

I read an article in Outdoor Life years ago where a man's ashes were loaded into shotgun shells (along with the pellets) and given to his buddies to duck hunt their swamp. Sounded kinda strange to me, but to each their own.

I’m new to this distortion idea. Has anyone used it to their advantage? Used in on purpose? I don't know about pictures, but in a video an interesting effect can be created by moving forward quickly at the same time as zooming out.

People lose their jewelry all the time. I know because I try to find it (and very seldom can find the owner). Imagine the heartbreak when granny falls off the finger or chain ... or the curse put on me because I melt the gold for scrap.

Have you looked at Princess Auto for parts? Not that they have tumblers, but they are well stocked for other purposes. Larger barrels generally have more rocks and are therefore heavier, so one powered shaft is usually adequate. The barrels shouldn't fall off if they have a guide. Good luck with your project

I have the iPhone 11 and my daughter the 13. The newer phone has a much better camera and I plan on upgrading. I think you will like your 12 which in your plan is n-1 (newest version available - 1).

I don't have a trusted supplier with cheap prices and quality product in Canada that I can recommend. I have used grit and media from Poly Plastics on Amazon but I don't remember if it was shipped from the US or sold in Canada by a third party. I have also bought from Robert Hall Originals who have good service, but aren't inexpensive. The nice thing with them is they will make up custom amounts of grit if requested. Cross border is always an option, but if you do that be sure to ask for USPS shipping, because packages being mailed sometimes do not to attract customs charges, whereas some couriers (eg UPS) will hit you with a brokerage free

I had it suggested to me when I was hounding along the river, to take a garden sprayer. It could be filled up in the river whenever it's empty. A one-gallon sprayer wouldn't take up too much space, and be light enough to tote around for the day... That's a good idea. I brought a spray bottle last time I was here. I tend to hound closer to the water when I can. Or bring a spray bottle. ;-)

If I am worried about things in a tumbler freezing, then I substitute automotive windshield washer fluid for the water or move the tumbler inside.

I bet if there was a light rain in that spot that more would jump out at you to collect

My entry is self collected silver from Gowganda, Ontario (Canada). I love that you self collected that - quite stunning. I hope you saved the rest of the slab with the copper inclusions for another one.
Patty.... who loves copper
The brassy colour in these rocks is nickel (ie. nickeline). Often, these rocks also contain cobalt and arsenides which are a dull gray.

Did your wife disappear while you haggled with the store manager? That's what I do when my wife asks for a better price or goes for free stuff at the cash registrar (ie. if they ring/scan in the wrong price(for a $10 or less item), then the store is supposed to give you the item for free. I make myself scarce, but really like her results (and yours).

If someone is going to pay $4, then they will also pay $5 if they like it. I would leave bundling to the time of sale, so verbally offer the 3-deal rather than display it. But of course, that is just me. Best of luck with your business.
